According to a press release from this time last year, they have sold over $10 million through this program (though I believe it is mainly in coins and comics).
The best thing about the program is there is a flat 10% fee, which should please even the hard core Heritage haters like T.

Heritage has an archive showing the results of every offer made through this program, whether rejected or accepted, and it can be sorted by category and price. In my quick glance, the biggest multiple I saw for a poster was an East of Eden six-sheet which originally sold for $717, had resold for $9,000 and there seem to be a few low five-figure resales as well.

Crowzilla,

Thank you very much for the link.  Will bookmark that.  I am wondering if there is a way to search by title?  All I could see was the ability to leaf through the pages in no particular order.

I have the box checked on my profile that my wins can be offered.  I received an offer for some Colleen Moore cards one time at almost twice what I paid for them.  I countered a little because I really did not want to sell but if I did I put a price on that I would be happy with.  In the end we did not reach agreement.  A little bit of remorse that I did not sell now.

Overall I think it is a great program that you can offer for things you want and receive offers.  Wish other auction sites would do that.

Matthew

I know.  It's on ongoing battle with my wife.  She doesn't want me to get it, because we'd still have to buy something for the bride, or something for the couple.  But HE really wants it.  He grew up in Northern Michigan, owns a cabin in the middle of nowhere, so I guess he identifies with the movie.  Maybe it should be a birthday gift.

T
T, With the Heritage result, it might be cheaper to take a guys trip to North Georgia and run those rapids.  A friend of mine in Atlanta did get in a fist fight with a local on the river there.  Okie

Why would you say that its probably not real? Im sure HA did due diligence/research on the autograph before listing it and then accepting $12.5K from some buyer.

If it was sold for $25 bucks, that might be another story.  8)

Wowzers! I have one of those. Available for only £15k too ;)

Remind me how you consign to Sotherby's please?

To be serious for a moment, I have always loved the art on that quad, probably my favourite for the film.

With an estimate of 400-600 GBP, it just shows how many people are out there that literally have $$ to throw away (which isnt a bad thing, if you've got money to burn).  8)

And this is seen at other auction houses too, like HA, so is nothing new. But it's fascinating to see, when something goes SO far beyond an auction estimate.

Seems about right - it should be close to double this Totoro poster.

I don’t even check these auctions anymore, because what’s the point in torturing myself.  Still haven’t checked HA sig either.  Hopefully there is something good there.

Yes, it includes the BP - but that is still over $100K USD.
Who/what is sotherbys?

Can't wait to see the new ebay asks for Dr No quads after this result.

Maybe Sotheby's can procure a private sale with the underbidder (for a fee)...

Hey, you may as well inquire!

That is assuming this is even a real result to a real buyer and not some bizarre money laundering or something.

My word!

Thing is, there are BIN options out there for Dr No quads at £10-12k.  A bit of backing and framing and you'd still save yourself £70k.

But who knows if those are even real.
Much safer to buy one already framed up

Re : Jim Morrison

It was a sgd photo and it has been discussed before on various autograph boards few yrs ago , it was deemed likely not authentic and that he would not sign such a bare chested photo of himself (example : Kunis doesnt sign topless photo she did , Pitt doesnt sign with blue sharpie cuz he thinks dealers use blue......celebs can have quirks when it comes to signing certain items)

(I see dealers offering Adam Wests un-inscribed from cons , at cons he insisted on inscribing......this I know from personal experience as I talked with his manager Fred , even if I offered 20$ more per signature the answer was still no)

Personally had it been me I wouldve requested a refund , esp when were talking this kind of $$$ (also just cuz theyre experts in posters do not make them automatic expert in autographs , there are also high priced forgeries out there)

HA has experts working in more that just vintage and collectible movie posters.

The deal in rare coins, gold and silver, fine art, autographs, comic book art, etc. Posters are but one department among many.  thumbsup.gif
