Long story short this is the poster for the Royal Premier in London 1980. One day before Empire was released publicly on May 21st there was a premier and party held for charity. This was dubbed Empire Day aka the Royal Premier. Needless to say since it was only one theater and one day and to the best of my knowledge invite only to get in, not 100% sure on that part, there were not many posters printed. I have seen the programs come up for sale but not the posters. If I remember right I have seen a picture of a quad for this as well but do not quote me on that.

I naturally am the under bidder.   :'(

Nice informative post.
Under bidder?  Damn, I was pulling for you, man.
 cheers

Appreciated to all who were routing for me.

If the new owner is a true collector I say congratulations. Don't hide it let people see and know about it.

If it was bought by a dealer or hoarder I say... insert expletive here.

Another that was routing for you here, Mike.

And a great informational post, too, as Ted mentioned.

Sorry you didnt get it. It should have found its spot in the Undead Collection.  :'(

You can see the high bidder's initials on you iPhone or Android.  You can't see it on your computer.

Most odd, did it give the feedback amount that buyer has?

Very nice, very collectible. I thought it would have gone for a bit more, maybe £400 - £500. I wasn't bidding.

Not sure if anyone here has access to and can help or not but figured it would be a good place to start asking around.

I am looking for a decent image(s) of the a Star Wars first advance mylar shipping crate. If anyone should happen to own one of these beyond rare gems please pm me and I will be happy to explain what I would like to use it for. If you do not know what it is I will explain that in more detail at a future date.

For those that know my past SW history, yes I am writing again.

Oh the create itself. They couldn't be rolled efficiently because the mylar would separate.

They can be shipped rolled but it needs to be in a very wide tube to be done safely.

The first round of posters were shipped rolled in regular 2" or so tubes to theaters. As soon as they were received the theater owners reported that the mylar was separating from the paper backing or they were getting what looks like creases in the surface which nearly every example now has. This is where the mylar would bunch up creating the lines on the surface even though the paper backing is still smooth for those that are not familiar with them. To rectify this the remaining mylars were shipped in a wooden crate before being replaced with the all paper second advance which would be the first theatrical poster to have what would be the permanent type face logo that we are all familiar with. A few of these crates have surfaced over the years but they are exceedingly rare. I was never fortunate enough to obtain one but did have shots of one that turned up for sale in the mid 90's. These images have since been lost during a hard drive crash years ago hence the request for images if anyone should have some.
