The 1970 psychedelic re-release for Fantasia is more interesting IMHO (although obviously the original 1940 is a classic):

I always hated the "psychedelic" style. Mostly, because "psychedelic" artwork is my least favorite art style that has ever been conceived. But as far as Disney re-releases go (there are ten thousand of them) the 70s Sleeping Beauty re-release always sticks out as am excellent redesign for me. That, and the 1990s re-release of Pinocchio with John Alvin's artwork.

I may be alone but I,ve always preferred the 73 release of Butch Cassidy to the original.

Whilst I do not disagree that right now those re-releases are better than their original counterparts but isn't this basically a question of fashion?

Well on reflection the original Fantasia is the better one...I still say it's all about fashion of the time and not so much about being better or worse

DESTROY ALL MONSTERS first and rerelease.
Both are nice, but I like the rerelease better.

I am embarrassed to say that I never noticed until now that the re-release Destroy All Monsters is exactly the same layout as the original release.
oops.

I much prefer the 1982 re-release than any of the originals (except for the Australian one)

I don't know squat about the Japanese language, but the titles are different?
Armin, can you interpret?

That's what makes the re-release truly better than the original... The Title isn't among the picture getting in the way.

The first release was called KAIJU SOSHINGEKI (怪獣総進撃), which translates roughly as All Monsters Attack.
The rerelease was titled GOJIRA DENGEKI DAISAKUSEN (ゴジラ電撃大作戦) which means Godzilla Lightning Attack Strategy.
The Lightning Attack Strategy is a military term and it probably refers to the German "Blitzkrieg" strategy from WW2, so maybe Godzilla Blitzkrieg Attack would be a better translatation.

I haven't got the original for comparison, but the aussie re-release daybill of The Outlaw looks much nicer to me than the original.
