Why so many stickied threads in General Discussion?
« on: April 08, 2011, 05:48:57 PM »
Just wondering if any mod or mods might be open to 'unsticky-ing' some of these pinned threads.

It is getting to the point where the pinned threads are taking over like weeds, and I am not sure they all need to be pinned.

For the sake of keeping things organized, maybe a brief spring cleaning is in order.  This could also help the threads that need to go away, go away, and could also help threads that might be getting ignored from lazy first page viewers (like myself) see other threads that could prove relevant once again at first glance which would otherwise be lost on page 2 if not worse. I know, nitpicking...but we are getting to the point of having the entire APF all pinned up.

Initially, I could see the heavy hitters staying pinned...the Mid/Post auction threads. Next group to stay, IMO, would be Bond, Star Wars, and Unicorns.  After that, I personally don't see the need to keep the others at the top, unless other folks are partial to some threads I am not mentioning.

I dunno, just want to keep this particular segment of the APF fresh, that's all.

Any thoughts?

I second this. Or maybe create a whole separate forum for "Focused Discussion" that is essentially a bunch of tacked threads all in one forum.

Also, I think Lobby Cards should have its own entire subsection, like the Advertising/Music/Graphic, etc, posters have.

It would be great to see similar poster topics generated in the lobby section.  Mid/post auctions discussions, unicorns, good and bad dealers, so on and so forth.  I think lobbies kick ass, and I think an entire section of subsections dedicated to these would really help the hobby as well as collectors.

That lobby card idea is actually spot on in my mind, because in that section essentially we could throw in FOH sets, photobustas etc etc, so keeping the main poster section a bit more free so-to-speak.

Agreed, we should sticky this thread so everyone sees it.

I was thinking the same thing the other day.  I am going to unpin some.  Thierry and Holiday, if you feel that some should remain sticky, go ahead and repin them.

Thanks.  You know what you did.

Thanks a bunch, Schan. Looks great.

Any chance of the lobby card sub section?

This thread should go in Suggestions.

I "suggest" that a moderator set up a new sub-forum(?) in the Movie Posters section entitled Movie Poster Genres/Subjects (or something similar).

Put it below the General Discussion subject.

Then move the most popular Genre/Subject threads to that new area, including:

James Bond
Star Wars
Halloween
Hide in The Closet Girls
Animation Posters
Text Only Posters
Double Bills
and so on

That way those subject threads won't get buried under newer threads and eventually lost.

It sounds way better when Mel says it. GREAT IDEA!

I always went for the, if you want to talk about it, it gets bumped theory. If everyone is bored it gets buried. All it takes is a search to revive a thread if you have something to add.
Not that i care. All I read is unread posts since last visit, ot create a new one. Go with the flow kinda fella.

You're the boss, dude.  I really don't care either way.  Whatever makes you guys happy.

PS: The Lakers lost 5 games in a row.  That's pretty much the ONLY thing that concerns me at this point.
