True, Chris.. and interesting to note that emovie had the re-creation done (or appears to have, based on the description wording):

"We had the finest restorer recreate the bottom one-third of the poster, matching it exactly to the high quality image of the poster we auctioned in 1992, so it has been recreated in every detail, and it was done on poster paper, so it looks authentic in every way."

I wonder who this (their) restorer is?   dontknow.gif

As Bruce always asks in his descrips: "If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know."

Now we can ask about the artist of the bottom 1/3.   ;D

To be honest I did not catch that in Bruce's description!  I too would be curious if Bruce actually owned the poster and who recreated the bottom panel

Living in redwood country I would **love** to have this poster, alack, I suspect that ma**** bastid will be all over it though sending it to need-to-rob-a-bank territory.

Absolutely stunning.  I'd give my left testicle, but I fear that even both of them would be insufficient. :(

Exactly. And emovie, in many, many cases knew/knows in great detail about the pre-restoration conditions as well as what was exactly done to these posters during the backing and restoration process.

I recall asking Bruce, via the board here once, who did their restoration work (in general). There was never a reply of any kind.

Dave Lieberman posted this poster to MOPO today. It isn't for sale but is owned by one of his clients that had this backed and restored.

Its a US OS for the 1932 film, Hell's House, with Bette Davis. Almost all the poster material that has been offered is for a later 30s or early 40s RR, which promoted Davis as The star.

Here, Davis has 3rd billing, behind Junior Durkin, as it was still quite early in her career.

And i think this is ONE beautiful stone litho. It just shines!!  bed1

What you really want are posters for the alternate Spanish language versions, filmed at the same time for non-English speaking markets, which of course star Seņor Durkin.

Actually after seeing this I really do want to get a Junior Durkin item for the collection.  He had one of those tragic Hollywood Babylon lives that would fit in quite nicely.  (Was 'mentored' by a notorious chickenhawk, and killed at a young age in a crash that only Jackie Coogan survived.  Good stuff...)

VALENTINO SCREEN PRINT "The Eagle" (1926)
I want to share this unique photo of a very special stone litho poster. Probably the original artwork for the film poster. Photo is with the owner, his grand mother won this poster in 1926 (poster is signed by Valentino).

Thought I could share it with you too!

Isn't this just a wonderful photo and a wonderful, wonderful poster!

Great history of that one, Rosa, especially as it's a family heirloom.  And nice photo.  Were you the photographer?
