Sweet stuff, Ari. I used to pin Ringling Bros. and Clyde Beatty posters on my walls when I was a kid.  Don't know what ever happened to those colorful bits of circus fodder, but I sure do miss 'em.
I hope others can contribute to this thread.

Looking at those big cats made me think about the tiger, soon to be extinct in the wild.
The North Eastern mountain lion was just declared extinct here in the States.
It's a sad and bitter commentary on our times.

                                                 +1 for the tiger...

Ari, I don't think the circus workers eat the animals but yes, there are concerns about maltreatment so I understand where you are coming from.

Although not strictly a "circus poster," I have a six sheet for "Rings Around the World," a documentary on circuses:

"While writing a book on the circus, author John Shawcross reflects upon the great acts he has seen over the years and the mystique of circus people. He recalls the solo trapeze act of La Mara; Tarzan, Sahib, and their elephant; Marco's sword-balancing act; an archery act in which Grey Arrow shoots an apple off the head of Zuni, his wife; the Mascott Sisters' head-to-head balancing act on a high ladder; the juggling of Rudy Cardenas; high bar specialists, the Tongas; Gunther Gebel Williams with his tiger; the flying bar act of the Laribles; Carl Sembach-Krone's trained horses; lion tamer Pablo Noel; the Gaonas and the Four Titos on the trampoline; the Flying Armors on the flying trapeze; Frieda Krone and her elephants; Fredy Knie, Sr., and his Lippizaner; the Francesco Clowns; Lilly Yokoi on her bicycle; Mendez and Seitz on the tightrope; and Pauline Schumann on the trick horse"

Cool, I like how the tight rope walking girl balances at the same time a penguin on her head

neat video Neo.

I don't have any circus posters but I had a friend in high school who went to clown college and ended up working for Ringling Brothers for a couple years as a clown.

Is that your poster Mel? I assume people are posting their own posters unless they state otherwise.

That is a nice poster. Erie Litho Company posters are much sought after.

I had a repro of that and similar posters years ago. I knew they were repros when I bought them. Ended up selling them to a framer in Sydney (as repros), and he sold them framed from his store. They looked nice and most people don't care.

No, I don't.  That's a "Photoshop repair" of something I spotted recently.  Are we limited to our own circus posters?

What's a "Photoshop repair"?

This thread is in the Show Us Your Collection area

Just repaired the water damage on the one I found.   Since I don't own it, I deleted it.  But I do have this poster (not a true blue circus poster obviously but perhaps close enough):

Nice one Mel. Are you going to display it?

That reminds me, have you had your apartment showing day this year? Love to see some surprised faces photos  :D

Sure, I've got it up - it's one of my faves:

No, the apartment tour has been delayed until the fall.  Since the average age of the residents in my apt complex is probably 65, I'll put up some of my vintage stuff like Trapeze. (Sadly, I blew most of my $ on inferior hyper-modern stuff.)

So list it on eBay.  I think I've got some house keeping to do as well...

Most of it is essentially worthless because the selling costs and hassle on Ebay exceed the net $ acquisition. They can't be consigned because the consignment fees are very high for low value items.  So I'm stuck with 'em.

I have a couple, some are in the loft. I thought I had posted these before as they are on my computer, but can't see them in the thread...

Both are 1930's posters. The spaces near the bottom are for the locations to be added.
It's more than a Hobby...
