Ok, here is my poster disaster area....

ATTIC

A work table with a bunch of rolls of one sheets, quads, HSs, inserts, etc...

Another work area with stacks of foldeds....

Here are a bunch of boxes of rolled posters in tubes that I still haven't opened since we moved almost 2 years ago now.  Notice the crazy box in the middle with a large tube in it... that is a Bonnie and Clyde French 1-panel on linen.

And here is a peak inside the wardrobe box filled with tubes and a few flat packed posters... The one in the upper left is my R51 French 1-panel for Beauty and the Beast!

SPARE BEDROOM

This bedroom is turning into a nursery so I'm going to have to get these out of here eventually.  For now it is an old box from one of Sue's frames that has been converted to flat storage.  I have a piece of acid free foam core on the top and bottom, with a bunch of books on top to help flatten folds.

I just flipped through for the first time in a while and there are some nice posters in there....

Here is that Black Christmas (with correct title) review 1-sheet I posted about a while back...

Dance of the Vampires quad (cough) See Paul! ;D (cough)

Its getting better the deeper I go...

And my prize near the bottom... a matte finish NM Goldfinger 1-sheet

DOWNSTAIRS

But wait, there is more.... this work room downstairs was supposed to house the majority of our books (from two academics) and a nice big work table to spread out on.  However, my posters have slowly invaded this space too... Here are some recent acquisitions (including my Big Lebowski, From Dusk Till Dawn, some bond quads and my yellow White Zombie silkscreen on linen.

Back in the corner you see unopened tubes of Alamo Star Wars prints, empty tubes for shipping and even on the top of the bookshelves I have another growing stack of folded posters.  I swear this is a like a disease...

Really enjoyed the pictures and informative walk through...very fun.  Thanks, Harry C!

I should have taken pics of my similar set up (various rooms) before I started getting more organized, it was getting comical.  (Well to me, not to my wife).

Now I am fusing all my stuff to just one poster closet instead of three, and putting several things in a flat file that was sitting in my garage for over a year.  I just have to attach the steel legs it came with, which are pretty cool, not to mention helpful.  Will post pics later on.

I have a few flat files, but after you get tens of thousands of posters, you need something more substantial.

So I built my own:

I also have a few tubes stacked on top of the shelves.

Bruce, that is cool.  Is that set up for your personal stuff, or for temporary holding purposes for eMovie?

Definitely eMoviePoster!

Sometimes people drive up with truckloads of posters, and we need to be able to handle ANY quantity.

One guy came with 50,000 posters and he said, "That will keep you going for many years" and I said, "Since we auction 100,000 items a year, that's only 6 months worth" and he was surprised!

Are you saying that the posters we bought from you over the years have been in there at some point?

I was wondering the same thing.  Is that place climate controlled?  Do you have acid free mulberry paper at the bottom of each drawer?

More importantly, where is Angie?

I have been organizing my posters by style/size in my flat file. For example I have a drawer of folded one sheets and separate drawers for rolled one sheets and quads. I know Thierry keeps rolled posters rolled but does anyone else store everything flat?

Also, we are getting ready to put the house on the market and the real estate agent recommended I take all my framed stuff down.  I want to keep them in the frames does it matter if I stack them flat on top of each other or is it better to lean them vertically somewhere?

I cannot believe how organised T is... it must take some of the mystery out of life. I love having a mooch and finding something I forgot I had. ;D

Storage-wise, I try to keep as much stuff as possible stored flat. With regards to the framed posters, I would definitely store them vertical. They can damage each other too easily staked.

Just moved (well 18 months ago ) myself, some people have no taste when it come's to what's on your wall's. Mind I had Blood from Dracula's Castle, King kong vs Godzilla, and Frankenstein and the Monster from hell up. :)

Haha! You are my kind of guy Paul! My collection is primarily horror, I cannot fault the real estate agent for his advice considering what I had up.
Thanks for the advice, vertical it is.

How do you upload images that aren't somewhere else?
I only know how to upload images that I have uploaded to my website.

Anyway, T - that is one heck of a set-up you have, never mind organisation.
You know the lobby card sets you pictured? What are they in, and what are they stored in?

Best,
Adam

So they actually just put in the carpet today; but until I saw T's stuff I thought I was taking it a bit overboard.  I had a wall adjacent to my garage having a 3' raised ledge so I knocked down the wall repositioned the studs and built a custom movie poster closet that extended into the garage out of oak with black water based stain and acrylic top coat; finished off the wall in bead board pine with a rosewood finish.  Added some recessed lighting for some of my favorite items.  The shelves are all adjustable; I need to build about 4 or 5 more for the one sheets (flat).  The 1st slimmer shelving unit will be used for folded posters; I refuse to collect lobbies or photos.... but who knows.   The remaining 4 slimmer cases is for my massive vinyl collection and maybe some books...  It took me 4 months and an electricity how to book but it is done...  I was thinking about adding a door to the one sheet unit to keep out light and actually be able to lock it up; thoughts?
