Thierry, do you have your prints/posters in sleeves?

Ferris looks like its in a sleeve...mylar, perhaps?

Semi on topic: do you (or anyone) feel the need to use backing boards with mylar/poly sleeves?

No sleeves.  Ferris came with one last night, and since it's the last one in the drawer, I left it.  Otherwise, no, no need.

Do you not use mylar or poly sleeves because you live in a low humidity area?  All the posters in my flat file are in poly sleeves because I figured it would be better living in an area with high humidity and it seems to give me some sense that they will be more safe, am I correct assuming that?

I don't know.  Maybe.  I know I don't need them here.  But if I were to live in Miami, the story might be different.  My flat posters don't need it for sure.  My rolled posters are in rolls of 50.  Each roll is in a poly bag (or whatever it's called) just in case of a flood, because the back of a garage can be more prone to humidity than other places, but mainly so that they don't touch the cardboard tube.  Humidity is really not a factor in Southern Cal.

Good idea on keeping the rolled ones in poly bags, for the reasons you stated.  I should probably find a few for the few posters I have that are in cardboard tubes that need to be linen backed and framed.  You guys in California are lucky that you don't have to worry about the humidity.

A couple of pics of the un-organised collection at Waines Manor...

If it was only posters I think I would be O.K. Unfortunately I have several thousand Film Magazines of mostly Horror films, about 1500 books, amongst the other stuff.

This is the linen closet, one side full of Mags.

This is the small back bed room, which is my main poster room, both flat file's full and all draws full.

This room is going to be my home cinema, when I can get it finished. At the moment a bit of a store room

The study is finished, but no where near enough space for all the books.

And the loft is full to bursting.

Carefully...  ;)

They do actually open 3/4 of the way out, but you have to stand at the side of it. I am hoping not to have the bookcase's in there when we eventually get the house finished.  So there will be much more room.

Paul you had me hopes up for a much greater disaster. Considering the amount of stuff that isnt that bad at all. Though I do see what you mean about having to find and dig something out.

When you are a massive poster hoarder, you need to buy your flat files in 3 or 4 stacks instead of the single or doubles. Go about 5' or 6' high, I am on the hunt for another, put the word in at the local office salvage, see how long it takes for them to come up with one, maybe by then I can figure out where to put it! The last one I got in the pictures was only 375 or so delivered/setup. I want the 2" drawers this time though, the 1" you just cant get enough in a drawer.
