That poster truly is a work of art, T.  A perfect poster for a perfect movie (such a rare phenomenon!).

I almost picked one up for 6k like a year ago.  The guy had the original release poster posted on the ebay ad, with a few close up pics.  I was a little alarmed when I noticed the photo seemed to match a poster that Heritage had auctioned.  I finally got him to send me more photos, and of course, it was the re-release.  He was adamant that there was no difference....I was like, yeah, there is like a 8k dollar difference.  Oh well, the search continues.

Hahaha... that's funny.  At first all I read was blah blah blah $6k.  I was like, shit, that's a bargain.  It upset me a little ;)  Then I read the rest about it being a re-release.  The re-release is nice too, but the colors are slightly off.  I don't think you should spend more than $1.5k on it, though.

Now I'm on the hunt for a FOLDED double panel.

Yeah, aside from a few tiny cuts at folds intersections (can't prevent those over time), it is immaculate.  I truly believe it is the only folded one in existence, and to own it in this pristine shape is quite awesome.  Very happy with my purchase.

T

Just curious... why do you think the copy you picked up is the only non-backed copy/folded known to exist? Is the paper this poster was printed on extra delicate or more fragile?

The film is from 1946 but there are non-backed, French posters from much earlier that still exist. (A number of the French Universal-horror posters from the 1930's come to mind).

A folded version has never come up for auction anywhere and two of the most foremost French poster collectors I talked to prior to purchasing it have never seen one in their many years of collecting.  That's not to say it doesn't exist, but it is MY belief that at this moment in time it is the only one.  Maybe 20 will pop up tomorrow, who knows.  The same goes for the Laura I own.  I knew of two when I bought it and still know of two.  Or my French Rear Window.  Same deal.  Only 2-3 have ever showed up on the market.

If in doubt, please feel free to look for one of the titles I just mentioned and prove me wrong.  That's what a forum is for.

Beautiful poster. Saw a linen one in flesh in a small shop in Paris 18e, loved it until I asked for the price :)

Nice double crown.  These are much harder to come by than the US OS.  Great find.

T
Yes, i was very happy to find this, not through the usual channels! Not sure on the value Bruce appears never to have sold one and Heritage have one up in November, but don't seem to have sold one prior to that

I know of another one in LA (well, LA suburb). But it is very unusual.

Thanks Schan! Is your 40x60 Blade Runner on thick card stock or is it on regular paper?

I take that back, the one in my avatar is a UK 40x60 and is on regular paper, not card stock.
Schan
Thanks.  You know what you did.

Sean, any idea how long that other folded copy has been owned by its current collector/owner?

Me too. He might have one also.

This one I saw was in 98, owner still has it as far as I know.

Although Rons copy could be linenbacked and whatever Sean saw could also be linenbacked by now and have sold 3 times at HA.  So as far as I'm concerned, until I see one for sale somewhere, I have the only one.

Congrats T! It looks amazing.

Thanks Scan for the updated info. I'm still looking for a 40x60 card stock of Blade Runner.

I was shocked to actually like some daybills until I realized they were inserts.

Kiss Me Deadly and Night In the City are nice.

Just received this guy from HA's last sig auction and decided to put it up for a little while.  No frame needed, it's not going to stay there, but I can look at it for a few weeks.
