August 2024

Two local pickups from Facebook Marketplace here in Toronto.

Seller was a marketing executive in the 1970/80s here in Canada with our large cinema chain.

These two posters had been sent to their head office from the studio, where he acquired them back in the day.

The Star Wars Style A is a rolled first printing 77/21-0 version. Some condition issues on edges, might need to visit a restorer.

The Empire Strikes Back Gone With The Wind version is pretty nice, a few pinholes in corners and crinkling in bottom left edge.

Great posters Morphine.  Can't go wrong with Star Wars these days.

Personally, I would not touch your Style A.  A rolled poster from 77, even slightly damaged, is much rarer than the same linenbacked poster, which can be found everywhere.  Frame it, if you like to display posters, or leave it in a tube, but you should think twice about restoring it.  My 2c anyway.

I was actually thinking more about a future owner and what they might do with it.

Personally I have never had any of my collection linenbacked.

I like them au naturel.

Jason.

Let the future owner make his own mistakes then.  I have 3 of those, they were in near mint rolled condition, just a couple faint fold lines on the right white border, and like an idiot I had them linenbacked years ago.  Always regretted it, but live and learn right?

Linenbacked all 3? Must have been early in your collecting journey.

Purchased in the July Heritage auction, but didn't get it until a couple of weeks ago. 1940 Style DF Onesheet for Gone With The Wind.
I was originally the underbidder when this sold in 2016, so was happy to pick it up at a steep discount to that selling price.
There are no other sold copies in the Heritage or emovie archives, though I would think there must be another out there somewhere.

The wife likes it and it makes a nice compliment to the original half sheet we've had for a while.

I've been collecting for a little over 20 years now, and I think it happened half way through, so I was still learning I guess.  Or dumb.  Probably dumb.

Nice Thunderball!!!  I’ve been after a near mint folded version forever but they’re hard to come by.

Thanks they are hard to find unbacked which my Dr no and YOLT quads are, if you do see one try to get the one with the grey background it really makes Bond's wetsuit pop.

This dealer appears to have one but I have not dealt with them I'm on a strict budget so when one appeared on eBay for less than half price I jumped in the car and made the 3 hour trip

Thanks.  Sometimes I question why I never buy from dealers, and then I see those prices and it all makes sense hahaha

I'll wait.  There are so many other posters out there.

But again congrats, that's a nice piece.
