Hello!
So I came across an interesting estate sale auction and took a chance on the purchase. The photos were way over saturated and I suspect shot in HDR mode so I was able to grab this lot relatively cheap. The interesting thing about the set of four posters was that it also included two certificates of authenticity from Paramount Pictures, the original receipt of purchase from a Paramount company called Special Effects as well as the original shipping tubes from said company. Got them in the mail and I was correct that photos were just poor and the colors and printing of these posters were exactly in line with they should be!
Raiders of the Lost Ark - J8117D (receipt item number) - Raiders is obviously a reprint (colors aren't as bold as my original one sheet and the lack of NSS info, 27x40, etc...) so that one definitely goes with the certificate of authenticity that mentions "This is a reproduction of an original Paramount Pictures feature film one sheet..." so I have no questions about this one.
Temple of Doom - J8118D - I more want to get confirmation from others that this is an actual one sheet. NSS info all looks good and the printing is tack sharp on the GAU logo. Size is 27x40 7/8 though AND on the receipt it shows the product number as having a D at the end like the Raiders sheet. Interesting that the Last Crusade sheets do not have the D.
Last Crusade Teaser - J8301 - This one is weird... It's 27x41 NOT 27x40.25 to 40.5 like I've seen almost everywhere else (EVERY eMovie auction lists it in the 40.25 to 40.5 range). I also noticed that the paper is just slightly more 'cream' colored than my personal one sheet that I've had for over 20 years. The extra paper is at the top edge and, again, when I looked at all past history on eMovie, none of them have this much border.
Last Crusade Regular - J8302 - This poster seems perfectly fine to all diagnostics
So I WAS thinking that the certificate of authenticity that states "This is a limited edition Paramount Pictures Corporation feature film one-sheet. Used exclusively at theaters for advertising" covers Temple of Doom...
MAYBE (Is it unreasonable to think Paramount had leftover of these from 5 years previously?), and both Last Crusade posters. Thoughts?
I'm sure there are several of you that remember this Special Effects store and can fill in some history or facts about it as well. I do think it's really cool to have so much provenance on these posters with the receipt and certificates and I'm glad I picked these up!
Open to comments about all four posters! Appreciate all your time! Also, the Untouchables was sold separately and I did not get that one.
