Hey everyone. I am in need of some help. I don't like linen-backed posters, although I've ended up with quite a dew of them. Lately I find myself in NEED of a linen-backing service as I have discovered several posters had become damaged during my move. UGH! I am asking for help as this thread has not been updated in 2 years. The last service listed (and praised) was backingtothefuture...with a Facebook link attached. The Facebook account doesn't look to have been updated since 2017!
UGH! I need some things "fixed"--and so i guess I need them backed.  I'm looking for quality work on a limited at decent prices. Recommendations, PLEASE!

Backingtothefuture. He still backs mine. But his Facebook and instagram should be up to date. There were pictures and posts from this year recently.

Hi BigMike. Thanks for posting. Perhaps I can't see more up-to-date images on their Facebook page because I am not subscribed to their page? I found their website, https://www.backingtothefuture.com/ , and that is current. It lists services--but no mention of costs. Are they reasonable as well as good? THANKS

Reach out to Mario over at Lumiere. He's the best for quality/value.

I don't do this often, if ever, but some posters do (at least imho) warrant the linenbacking treatment.

My two Salaire de la Peur (Wages of Fear) large French posters were in poor condition, not missing pieces, but extremely brittle.  I knew I wouldn't be able to find other copies, let alone better condition ones.  It is a very historically important French flick (the only movie to win the Cannes and Berlin film festivals and a BAFTA for best picture), so I caved and sent them both to Mario.  The result speaks for itself.

Thanks for posting, T. Pictures speak louder than words sometimes… but your praise in addition to the pictures (especially since you are anti-linen backing) speaks volumes! Thanks!

That brittle paper is very delicate. I think we all know your views on linen backing, so I'm sure it was needed! They look terrific, cool posters for a great film.

Both of these look great. Perfect examples of when resto work is both needed and appropriate...a fine line that is lost on many.

Thanks guys.  I've always said, rarity and paper deterioration are key to restoration.  Can the poster be replaced by a better copy?  Is it displayable as is?  If the answer is no to both, then linenbacking is due.  Otherwise, it is completely unnecessary in my opinion.

Also, I'd much rather buy a damaged poster and have the restoration done by someone like Mario or Dario, than buy an already linenbacked poster.  I want to know what was wrong prior to linenbacking, what was replaced, what was added.
