Rafter Romance (1933); WC

This is a beautiful card but something about it reminds me a of the recent Al Franken photo.  ;D

More great LCs and HSs from Ira Resnick's collection, some sold for $$$$:

(some of these required extensive PShopping!)

Wax Museum TC and Werewolf of London TC both passed, why are you even posting those?
Post Son of the Sheik instead.

But at least you can see a little bit of why he did the auction this way - it was in conjunction with TCM so he got lots of press that way, it was an auction of only his stuff where of course with Heritage it would have been combined with a signature sale, and very single item had a reserve (even $500 lobbies), and it would be very doubtful that Grey would agree to such an arrangement.

But I would say overall the results are what you would expect from a place that doesn't normally handle posters, gave no descriptions of items and had less than stellar photos.

To me, the original, un-retouched images of the various LC from Ira's collection are much better than those presented above that have been messed around with, in Photoshop. (And that's what I'd rather see).

Imho, the added saturation and/or color, plus the stark, minty white borders makes them look like new reproductions, (since that same kind of "adjustment" is also done to many reproduced poster images, both old and new).

As a comparison:

A Midsummer Night's Dream - un-retouched LC image taken from the Bonhams online catalog:

I'm liking those Johnny Guitar posters, ladeda, especially the first one you posted - that beautiful Italian.  bed1

Any idea who the artist is?

In addition to posters, he did covers, too, like this one for issue #101 of the Italian comic "Menelik" from 1973:

Johnny Guitar does have striking art.  Here is the quad from my "to be restored" drawer:
