That is beautiful Paul.
Is there any end to the quality movie memorabilia you have amassed over the years?

Just got this rolled "Follow Me" from 1969 from Cinemasterpieces. Very cool to have a 41 year old poster that is rolled.  Anybody else want to share a picture of one of your older rolled posters?

Time warp/loop, got another from CMP, stored away for decades by a printing company employee:

Very nice, Mel.  Those old westerns, especially the serials have some really nice images, and they tend to go cheap these days.

emp has auctioned 15 rolled copies of this poster over the years. Being a modern poster from 1980, I'm guessing there may be a fairly good quantity of these that are still floating or "flying" around?  dontknow.gif

Quite unusual scenario - I reacquired a rolled 1979 "1941" but most originals sold have been rolled:

i should know this but i don't. how come rolled posters from machine folded times exist?
was there a short test run first or was it the folk at the printing place just making sure the folding part was turned off at end so they get fold-free copies for themselves?

Red, good question. Unfortunately I don't know the answer! I do know in the late 80's to early 90's rolled 1-sheets and folded 1-sheets had separate print runs. The copies meant for folding have thin white borders across the top and bottom of the poster. Why this was done is anybody's guess. As a rule, folded 1-sheets were largely phased out around 1982 or 83 but as you can see in this thread, earlier examples do exist.

I think there are several correct answers why there are some unfolded Golden Age and earlier posters, Redman. This can include printers' copies, someone taking a copy home, the poster being used for another purpose than mailed out to theatres (think about where old posters have been found over the years), local print and use, and several other possibilities...    Okie

From LAMP:

http://www.learnaboutmovieposters.com/newsite/index/articles/fold.asp

WERE ALL PRE-80's POSTERS FOLDED

"When posters were printed, a batch would be pre-folded for shipping. The remainder, quite often, was stored flat. Then, as more was needed to be shipped, another batch would be sent to the folding machines. The folding was due to the fact that it was the most economical way of shipping the poster to the theater.

If a theater owner would come by to pick up their posters, sometimes they could get a rolled poster instead. This seems to have created a lot of controversy in the poster collecting community. However, the majority of the pre-1980's posters found on the market will be folded. When a rolled one is found, it DOES NOT mean that it's not real, it is usually a cause to take a closer look at the poster to make sure that it's not a fake."

this poster was not fully folded. not sure how that could have happened but bruce gave the buyer the option of rolled or flat-package postage ;D
