Got a good deal on this Barbarella Style A one sheet.  (Although methinks the half sheet for this style is the best format.)

I like the large Italian version where the woman at the back has a wardrobe malfunction.

Is that B2 the biggest Barb Japanese poster?  Was there a B1 or B0?  What about a tatekan?

Hanoi Jane?  Well, she has repeatedly apologized. In 1988, she said:

"I was trying to help end the killing and the war, but there were times when I was thoughtless and careless about it and I'm very sorry that I hurt them. And I want to apologize to them and their families. [...] I will go to my grave regretting the photograph of me in an anti-aircraft gun, which looks like I was trying to shoot at American planes. It hurt so many soldiers. It galvanized such hostility. It was the most horrible thing I could possibly have done. It was just thoughtless..."

So at some point you gotta show some forgiveness.

I would imagine they printed a tatekan and also larger sizes. Around that time most big budget foreign movies had a full set of ad materials. But I have never seen them and only own the B2. Anything on this film is very rare in Japan (and expensive). I once came accross a B2 with different artwork by the way, I believe it was an advance poster. But it was pretty ugly and I didn't buy.

Gotta agree. Besides, if you let personalities and or politics get in the way, you will miss out on quite a few great movies. Plenty of actors and directors I dont like at all as people.  8)

Schan that is a sweet image.

Harry there aint nuttin wrong with that Belgian.

I agree with Armin.  I imagine there is a B1 and tatekan at least.  There is a B1 for Bullitt, also from 1968 and quite a few from before that as well.  Given that it was not a small production and wildly popular around the globe, id imagine there were some printed.  Whether they still exist is another matter.

I sold a Japanese vertical two-sheet (40" x 58")this past summer to a gentleman who is one of the biggest Barbarella collectors on the planet.
Unfortunately I didn't save a large picture of it.  :'(

Have never seen another in 20 years of dealing with Japanese posters.

Nice.  It appears to be similar to the other posters.  Here is another Japanese version:

Dread_Pirate_Mel: The image you posted that you called "the advance" is the 40 x 60 (I don't think it was used on any other size).

No, but that artwork was used for the regular Argentinian 1-sheet poster.  Unfortunately it seems to be even rarer than the 40x60 and nearly as expensive.

And check out this UK subway (40x60)... roughly the same artwork as the quad, but Mel will like the framing better and I like the size better!

That is my favorite design for this film, Harry, in any format.
Earlier you mentioned that you had a small Belgian and followed it with the quad art.
I also have a Belgian but it is the McGinnis art...
Is there a Belgian in that quad style?

Here's my Belgian...

Which 'that' did you mean?  The quad art on the 40x60 UK subway?  If so, I agree... although I do love the US 40x60 as well.  I think the quad (and the Czech) really capture the comic book origins.

The Belgian is great... but a little small for my tastes.  There is always the US subway poster...

But still... I think the Belgian is better balanced in the superwide format and it doesn't have all the messy text.  I guess I'll just have to pony up for the 24 sheet someday  ;D

"That" referred to the quad/40x60 art, both of which you posted, Harry. I think you answered my question re: Belgian...

Now, does anyone know if this Hildebrandt piece was EVER used for a 1979 or 1981 RR?  Two websites I have come across say that it was, but I have yet to find any artwork with title, credits, etc...
It is a very cool piece....

Finished art...

Initial comp art....

Well Brude, if you like original art and the Barb quad, I'm sure you'll love this... the original artwork signed by Robin Ray sold for $4.3k at Christie's a while back:
