Some awesome stuff there but I sure don't see anything near $2 million worth, unless the exchange rate is not what I think it is

Peter

how can you even make such a comment when you have only seen a dozen posters out of the 7000 piece collection??

beyond that, I wonder if the French Kong 6 sheet is the copy that Sam Sarowitz sold?

He can BECAUSE he has only seen a dozen posters along with everyone else. How can you quote a tender without seeing everything you are quoting?

Something strange about this Josef Lebovic. You must register first to give tender yet he has NO list of titles on offer just a pics of several posters and a general description of what's in the collection. I've spoken to someone who has asked him for a list. No list!!!

Matt, I'm sure anyone seriously considering such a purchase will be able to get a detailed list or will fly in to examine the collection in person

Chris, whether or not it is wise to sell as a few lots or sell piece by piece is a matter of perspective.

by selling in lots, though they will get closer to a wholesale price than a retail price, it will happen all at once.
if you sell piece by piece, who knows how long it would take to get your money
furthermore, unless it is sold as singles in say one or two giant marathon auctions, it could take years to accomplish such a task.
However if you sell everything for even say $500,000, you can then turn around and invest the money and if you invest wisely, with considerably less time involved, you could wind up achieving the same results without the headache of years worth of single sales

a good example is in the Profiles in History "Hollywood Auction" on July 30th & 31st
someone is selling a collection of photoplay editions as a 750 piece collection. I happen to know the owner personally and I know he wants his cash all at once, rather than over the next several years, and statistically, it possible the collection could even go for much more than I.. pardon me, I mean "he" .. could get by selling individually

I don't even understand what you're saying Matt. I'm as seasoned a dealer as anyone is and I couldn't possibly make a judgement like that without seeing a vast selection of what's in the collection, or even just the 100-200 best posters

Hang on Rich, that's what I've just said. There are NO detailed lists of what's available, so why would you or anyone fly in to check it out. Why waste money on hear say?

Matt, are you saying that if someone like say Ralph DeLuca calls him up & says "I'm very interested, but before I will fly in to examine the collection, I will need much more information" that the auctioneer wouldn't provide it to him in some fashion be it pics or even a truncated list?

the auctioneer doesn't look like Mickey Mouse to me

That's exactly what I'm talking about. I spoke with a Bricks and Mortar seller today and he said that information is not available at this point in time.

not available at this point in time.

so does that mean they won't have it later??
if the auction is going to happen too soon for a list to be made, then you call Phil Edwards and pay him a wage to go look for you before you consider flying in

Hopefully it is made public later and I'm sure it will be but to what extent....we'll see.

Me pay Phil....yeah....I'm not that rich to do that. But someone else declined that offer to evaluate the posters for tender.

thank you, but I still don' t know what you mean unless you're saying you couldn't find someone to go look for you because you couldn't afford to pay him, which means you also can't pony up $1.2mil (I'm there with you), which begs the question, "if you can't afford to buy it, why think of asking someone to look for you"

 :P

and with that.. I'm going to bed..  :-*

I haven't got a list but have seen quite a few photos after registering. I thought the collection of 500 lobby cards might be within reach but turns out there are 4000.
Some of the stuff he has listed in his gallery with individual prices I purchased for about 20-25% of the asking price.
