Hey Rich, doesn't Lee have a shop RIALTO (?) in Seattle? I think I've spent quite a nice (smoke-fueled) afternoon the year I also visited your ragged place and Dario's. I bought a few original Moon And Sixpence lobbies from him, but yes most is repro. As he told me repro's of originals he used to have. Great shop by the way, not only posters, but also nice toys and other such stuff.

yeah maybe that's it.. I was thinking the place was in Portland

Peter Jackson just dropped me a note to let me know of an exclusive poster coming out at Comic Com (if I ever saw the rolling hills of the Waikato this is it).

OK, he didn't drop me a note personally, he advised his followers on Facebook of which he has 545,813 people following him, me being one of them...still, I felt special.  :D

Pretty cool and I'll want it if it's 27x40.

By the way, that Facebook entry has received 2,000+ comments in 5 HOURS.  Shows there is a lot of interest in movie posters.

38,000+ "likes" as well - I suspect there are more 'Ringers' in all those numbers than there are poster collectors.

BTW - if someone wants to grab one AND get it signed by PJ I will pay. Being from NZ, and having lived on a farm on the outskirts of Matamata as a kid (some 25km/15ml by road and less than 8km/5ml as the crow flies) from Hobbitton I think it will be very cool to have one on the wall...

Here's a collection of mostly European posters coming up for auction, collected by an Australian. It is being sold as one lot with an estimate of $2million.

Some awesome stuff there but I sure don't see anything near $2 million worth, unless the exchange rate is not what I think it is, particularly if they're trying to sell it as a single collection.  We know how hard that can be.  Maybe they had Mrs. Miniver do the valuation?

from what I have heard, what was shown was the tip of a very large iceberg.

Incredibly stupid (although easier) to try and sell that as one lot.

Also sad to think that when someone dies (I am assuming this is the case) their collection immediately gets put up for auction after all that work and enjoyment.  I know it's practical but still unfortunate...

And is EVERY poster in that collection linenbacked?!  Oh and for an Aussie collector where are the daybills???

Much of it seems to be non-Aussie stuff, which lessens my interest but protects me from robbing a bank.
Some great stuff for sure, but several items on the website for individual sale are at prices 4-5 times what I paid for the same thing.
I am not a high end player but can't see this getting $2m.
It is being divided into 7 lots, only three are of movie posters. Two of those lots look potentially within decent price range.

Those 2 Kongs are great. I doubt this collection sells for over 1 million let alone 2, but I guess we shall see.

Very cool, thanks Matt.

When you divide it out it does seem possible, but I think the buyer would be paying retail.  Definitely looking for a punter, the pros are going to need some room for profit.

Something strange about this Josef Lebovic. You must register first to give tender yet he has NO list of titles on offer just a pics of several posters and a general description of what's in the collection. I've spoken to someone who has asked him for a list. No list!!!

What? People are just going send him a tender of 1.2million, more or less maybe. For what? Shit they can't see. Give me a break.

He's got a 3sh ZOMBIES OF THE STRATOSPHERE ('52) listed for $2,200. Bruce has sold 10 for on average $102 each. moron1
