Here's one auction of 154 quads that has already been outed:

Why not make my day and place a few bids?

Wow this thread has continued while I was asleep

That is quite a generalization Wim... you clearly aren't trying very hard:

Breakfast at Tiffany's 1-sheet -- $305
In a Lonely Place French 1-panel -- $550
Lot of 18 Star Wars trilogy posters  -- $50
Schindler's List Saul Bass 1-sheet -- $211
Schindler's List Saul Bass 1-sheet -- $350
Don't Bother to Knock 1-sheet -- $350
Niagara 1-sheet -- $150
(2) King Kong heralds - $35
I'm sure I'm missing plenty more...

And I'm not even counting my Magnum Force 40x60 I got for $125 as that was from a garage sale. :)  All of the above were won at auction.  If they had been discussed here, do you really think I would have won them for those amounts?

I'd say those are all examples of the category I described. Every collector will have his own little trophy and yes I have stopped trying hard. There's no need for it. I'm quite happy with the posters that I find the relaxed way. I bought an English rerelease doorpanel of Thief Of Bagdad for 2000 English pounds without chasing it that I might have gotten for less chasing it for years or haggling endlessly. And I'm honest enough to admit that if another one like that will turn up and fetch half of that price I will have to clear my throat a little. Still I will always love it more than the Italian Job onesheet I bought for 10 euro.

BTW Why would you want 2 Schindler's Lists?

Wim: Can you tell me how the collectors with big pockets already know about such auctions?

I did not say that they know of the auctions. Probably they are blissfully unaware of them. But the people who have the wishlists of those deep pockets, for example the people at Posteritati or Sean or Peter of MPE or Tony Nourmand, will definitely also get word of the upcoming sale of a DRracula quad.

Second that.

Quads and English one sheets are quite the ticket.

Not a big fan of quads, myself, but there are some very cool ones in that lot.  Good work Bruce, and the emovieposter team.  thumbup

Some U.K. art is quite the ticket, indeed.   cool1

Got a quick question about Mallam's; if you place a commission bid versus online bid are you more likely to just get the item for your commission bid...  Lot those lobby card sets...  I guess my question is, which is better commission bid or the salesroom route?

Thanks!

OK then.   Guess there will be some friendly competition.

Thanks again for the heads up Mel!

Hope this is the place to post these photos... I went to the London Film Memorabilia Convention today and thought some people might be interested to see them! If this is the wrong place let me know where they should go!

First one's of the location, living in London you sometimes forget what an amazing city you travel around... (l-r) Big Ben, Westminster Abbey and the one on the right with the dome is where the event is.

It's in the cellar of course, no windows.

Great stand I've been visiting and handing over my hard earned to for many years!

This seemed to be the US corner, three dealers over from America for the event.

Had a quick chat with this dude, thought he might have been a member here but he said he was only on MOPO (forgot to ask his name!).

This couple had an amazing wall of lobby cards... and they nearly sold me a gnarly Goldfinger one with Bond and Oddjob for £30.

This couple were lovely and some of their stuff looked interesting... notice anything nice on the table?

Here's a couple of nice Bonds and a Woodstock I've never seen before.

And another stand.

Hope that was of interest.

Thanks for sharing those AP, it looks as though it's smaller than the last time I was there, which is quite some years back. It used to be upstairs, in the central hall, if I remember right.  (I wonder how much that Devil girl from mars Half sht was...) did I type that!!!!

Do you know if the one at Camden in the electric ball room is still on the go?

Glad you like'em Paul... have just zoomed in on that 'Devil Girl From Mars' and it looks like $1000 (the three US stalls had their wares marked up in $'s), does that sound in the ballpark? The "Queen From Outer Space' had $650 on it... not sure whether they're good or bad prices!

Weirdly enough I actually picked up a flyer for the Camden event today, the dates listed are 14 April, 26 May, 18 Aug, 20 Oct and 8 Dec (all Saturdays). I'll try and take a photo of the flyer and post it on here tomorrow (together with the rest of the Westminster dates as they've got some great celebrity signings coming up this year).

Thanks AP, that does sound in the ball-park...unfortunately.... eyeroll
I can never work out why prices on anything on that title are so high.

It's good to know Camden is still on the go, I don't get down south too
often these days, but I always liked to go to those two events, though I
always found that at Camden prices were much more reasonable... ;D
Maybe it was the sticky carpet.... ;)
