Totoro is up to £4.2k at Sotherby's now. I'll sell my copy for £4k if the underbidder is reading. Thanks.

Amazing what people will choose to pay for certain posters.  faint2.gif   :o

I think it's a great poster for a fantastic film...but yeah, £4200 is a bit steep!

That’s like saying the Kilimanjaro is “a bit steep”!  8)

This is the poster being talked about, with a 4.2 GBP price, so far? If so, amazing and unreal.

Nope.
If you mean the Hunchback insert, it is a great piece - and surprisingly the most "common" paper on the title. Todd had a discovery of (I think) six inserts about a decade or so ago and I think that is where all but one or two of the ones known came from.

As for who is Wes Shank, he was known as the curator of the Blob and has been a movie memorabilia collector since the early 60s (he purchased the Blob silicone from the director of the film in 1965), attended the MGM auction in 1970 and was a really nice guy and huge movie fan. Probably most importantly for movies, he was the guy who discovered the 16mm print of King Kong in the late 60s that contained the "lost" censored scenes and were restored for the Janus Films release in the early 70s (and most other releases for about another 20 years until more copies surfaced).

Ah, gotcha.
Yes, thankfully I finished US paper on the Godzilla series many moons ago (unless a 24-sheet were to ever pop up)

wow, it's hard to imagine an established auction house doing such a shoddy job of presentation, but there it is.

Jeff, THANK YOU for posting this.  I had looked at the website earlier in the week or last week, perhaps. I tried to find it again and couldn't. I thought I had reached it via an email link...that I just could NOT find again. ARGH! Your posting about the little catalog. DUH! My catalog is sitting there sticking out from behind my computer screen. How did I NOT see it while searching for it earlier in the week? Ha! Thank you.

Wonder how much this 1919 Houdini will go for.  Pretty intense scene and cool looking robot!
