They mostly do sports memorabilia, but maybe they are trying something new.

My younger brother got into collecting these teeth, maybe 20 or so years ago. There is quite a community out there, as well as a grading scale..based on condition, and down to some very fine details and points (no pun intended). They are amazing to see and hold, in person, thinking what size the meg was that these teeth are from. Some having been 60' or longer.  :o

Yeah they're awesome.  The one there is pretty nice.  It still has most of the enamel, the gray part, which puts it higher on the grading scale as most are much more fossilized.  It appears the serrations are all smoothed, which is common for teeth more than 2.6 million years old.  It's really difficult to find one that's fully intact, with the enamel, serrations, etc.  I've only found a couple Megalodon teeth while diving, neither as nice as that one.  It's amazing to go to the areas where there are other fossils from other long extinct creatures, and some fossils from shark species that have existed for millions of years and are still living.

And like any collectible, its all about condition, condition, condition. That and where they are found. There are some areas in the world where the search and sale for certain species has been prohibited. So that has driven the price up on those particular teeth, as well. Plus, they are found throughout many areas of the world. All very cool, for sure.  8)

One of my many dive trips was to the Cooper River in South Carolina about 15 years ago.  It was quite disorienting -- the clay bottom we were searching was only about 20' deep, but the water was so murky that when you got about half way down you couldn't see the sun anymore.  You had to watch your bubbles to figure out which way was up!  It was basically like diving in coffee that was infested with alligators and bull sharks.  I somehow even managed to convince my (future) wife to come with!  8)

She found a complete Meg tooth.  It was on the small side but the enamel and serrations were mostly intact -- still razor sharp!  We also found lots of Meg tooth fragments as well as great white, mako and other shark teeth.  And other fossils like dolphin vertebrae, pieces of whale rib bones, and some lead remnants from Civil War-era shot towers

Not surprisingly, it was a very memorable experience!

Sounds like a rad river dive, hc.  Your wife must have a good eye for them shark teeth.

Okie, that's one of the perks with working in the phosphate industry.  Moving that much material, finding some cool stuff is like finding some gold every now and then.

Counterfeiting? ;D

I am guessing that the original owners were compensated via insurance and hence they are on sale?
Seeing them makes you kind of realise how many people must have been conned

Not really an event, but a quirky site selling posters.

is it new to the board, or is the owner in fact a regular here.

Much of what he is illustrating is already sold (at least in the Bond universe), making it a slow experience to get through everything.  But some thought has gone into making it look different.

Not sure how it might all work on phones etc...?

The TCM auction has Bela Lugosi's cape from ABBOTT AND COSTELLO MEET FRANKENSTEIN, as well as the 24 sheet, by way of Todd. Looks like he's trying to score a quick million again.
