Yes, lots of unsold items. A lot of the estimates seem way too high to me

Seems a similarly restored Dr No quad that quite possibly had Irish trimmings removed, went for £2k at Ewbanks today.

Hope the effort was consigned Only to the ladies and their ceremonious uncovering, as opposed to the Vectis equivalent that was completely repainted.

Astons have some nice UK Quads in their upcoming auction...

Not sure who briefed them ( I probably do know but I won't mention them here) that the Good, Bad and the Ugly Thierry hates "French Grande" was a '66 first release though. I'm sure that is a 70s release due to the text on the left hand side.

Only 30 out of the 221 poster lots sold, when all was said and done.

Budapest Poster Gallery still on another planet with their starting bids...

This Empire Strikes Back Hungarian poster starting bid $4,000

Yeah, the Budapest Gallery has many starting bids at would probably be in the ballpark of most galleries' prices. There's always interesting stuff in their auctions, though. The Hungarian Blade Runner is snazzy.

Thanks for the heads up on that there auction, Vick.  cool1

Their auctions seem to price things (opening bid) at mid to high end retail. But as you said Brandon, they always have interesting things.

That's the one Vick mentioned a couple weeks ago.

Only 26 of the 331 lots sold.  As usual, though, a nice gallery to peruse.  8)

Ah..I thought it was a new auction.

Those high opening bid prices are a killer, and not in a good way.  :-\

It would be interesting to see them at a true, low starting point, to get a better idea of the current market value for them.

True. If they want to set their opening auction number so close to a retail price, why not just list them and sell them as priced?  hmmm.gif

For you south California folks, and those visiting the area, there's a really nice looking posters exhibit and film screenings, from the Silent Era.  It's at the Brea Gallery, in Brea, CA.

From their website:

Join us as we present a rare look into one of the biggest compilations of silent movie posters and memorabilia. This retrospective exhibition kicks off the City of Brea's centennial celebrations with works on loan from the private collection of Dwight Manley. Featuring exquisite, never before shown silent movie posters, an actual 'silent Oscar', original posters from Brea's centennial year, 1917, Academy Award winning film posters, and movie memorabilia; this show will be comprehensive and delightful. Silent films will be screened in the Gallery throughout the exhibition.

Really?

An image not showing the edges, shoddy description, under valued?

Don't worry about outing the auction, I'm sure no one is planning to bid on it  eyeroll eyeroll eyeroll

And likewise, I am sure no one on this board interested in such would have Ever found it.  eyeroll

Doesn't this come under the same (old) debate over the pros and cons of the Mid Auction Analysis and the Events threads?  Both of which do precisely the same thing...  And, which I thought had been voted and decided upon.

Seems the chap has left a legacy of sorts to be auctioned at Ewbanks later this year.

Hope it is a well attended event for the benefit of the family.

(Sort of surprised that Excaliber have not got the job though....or maybe not)

The preview only contains a few lots to generate interest. We expect there to be over 600 of vintage posters in the auction with a strong selection of James Bond.

Ewbank's will be offering in house postage for this auction on items under a certain size (pretty much everything except the large glazed/framed posters). For these we can get competitive quotes for you.

We will also have the auction catalogued and online early summer so buyers have plenty of time to request condition reports and save as there are some great items in there!

If anyone would like a catalogue please contact me on 01483 223101 or alastair@ewbankauctions.co.uk and I will send out a free catalogue if you mention 'All Poster Forum'

Regards

Alastair

Yup - thanks for the info.

To be frank, I am surprised as I had believed Adrian had sold his collection to jump start his trading days.

Good luck with the auctions.

Morris Everett must also have things in the April 1st Excalibur auction, as he offered this link to MOPO a few days ago:
