He has one...

The Sierra is on one of my linenbacking frames... It's been a year now on the kitchen - damn time flies.

You have to remember that Coys' are not catering to the average savvy collector on this forum but rather well-heeled and successful punters who, on the same day, may be dropping tens or hundreds of thousands of pounds on buying a vintage car. Why would any such person be bothered to trawl the internet for a better price for a poster if it takes them minutes (or seconds) at work to make and cover the additional cost? The bonus is that they can take the poster home with them the same day.

It's nothing more than pointing out the differences in some of Coy's seemingly high estimates and what the same items have sold for elsewhere.  :)

Yes. That was quite clearly the feeling there today. Lovely cars. The posters were relegated to a corner.

I only had a quick look at the posters. Must confess that the cars looked more appealing  to me.

Yeah I thought about this when some of the cars up for auction at the end...  Mimosas and caviar whats another 1000 pounds after dropping 700K on a Ferrari...

But the irony is that this sale was advertised on the forums for the posters when it is clearly out of bounds for the savvy collector...

I agree Charlie. On the other hand....i saw a couple of John Ford posters that doubt will sell for that huge price. No BP ...no shipping costs and no added tax for UK buyers. ..so...i would not disregard the standard (UK/buyer/collector)... you never know. But yes..Their focus is on Ms and Mr Wallet

I just read this on the Coy's site.. I'm assuming it applies to any and all who bid on their items?

Premium:

Buyers are reminded that a 15% Buyer Premium is payable on the first £30,000/ €50,000 and 10% on any amount thereafter of the final Hammer Price. VAT, at the standard rate, is payable on the Premium.

It reads as tho the 15% BP is added onto anything up to 30K and 10% added for anything over that amount.  ;)

And when one considers that some auction houses charge upwards of 25% or 26% sometimes, their 15% ain't too shabby!  :D

From Focus Features:
Heritage Auctions reports historic interest as fans line up to bid on puppets, props and drawings from Coraline, ParaNorman & The Boxtrolls. Over 250 objects from the The Art of LAIKA go on the auction block on February 12, all in support of The Art of Elysium charity. Find your favorite LAIKA artifact here: http://ow.ly/IUlfM

Not surprised. The Boxtrolls  Water Wheeled Clock is just a gem.
