The Christies' Vintage Film Poster in London is on 19-30 June online only

I hope they will display them, good seeing some of these posters in person ;)

As Rosa posted previously, and i *just* saw that Christie's set up a page to view all the lots. Here's that link (better late than never)  :D
Per the site, the dates look to have changed, with the online auction running from the 13-24th of June.

I'm starting to wonder if Christie's just re-dates all their old catalogs and uses them again for their 'current' sale.  Nice stuff fer sher, but damn, mix it up a little every now and then.

I think all of the posters on their banner are modern (post-2000) designs.  Do you know if the show also has original release stuff from the 60s and 70s?  THAT would be very impressive to see in person!

Matt, this exhibition has posters from the early '70s (perhaps even some fromthe late '60s) up thru the last few years.

Here are 3 from the exhibit from the early-mid '70s:

1971:

1975:

1977:

Yes.. i got that email, too.

Benito will be at the ARGENTEUIL Show (outside of Paris) from Sept 26-28th.

So true Brian... and from his email, it made it sound like the posters shown in that link are only PART of what he will be bringing along.  faint2.gif

This is the same poster that sold last time... Interesting???

http://www.vectis.co.uk/Page/ViewLot.aspx?LotId=539852&Section=0&Start=20

Same with this one, too. Neither this or the Girl Who had Everything 40x60 sold in July.

The Big Sleep, US OS, mounted on a board.

O.K. This may take some explaining in print, so bare with me...

At the Vectis Auction. The Auctioneer, would say, "I can start this at £5". (so you would think they had a proxy bid of at least £5) So anyone who raised their hand, the Auctioneer would say "£10" which would be the next bid along, but they didn't have the first bid!!  so whom ever raised their hand should have been given the opening bid of £5, but this was not the case, and this happened with all the lots....

Great for the consignor, but not so good for the bidder.

My Brother and I both thought all bar two lots had sold, as they actually said on those two," I'll have to pass the lot". In actual fact almost 50% never sold as they were using this "Jump a bid up" trick.. it seemed like they sold, but unless someone actually bid, it hadn't, and bare in mind the higher priced lots they made more of a jump on.

Clear as Mud...

Paul, I hope you gave them some feedback. It would be good having Vectis in the UK doing a good job but it doesnt sound good. I could do without all the shipping and customs charges as I normally buy from abroad.

bidding rules must be clear. Not abusive.
