Yes it is a Berwick...and is clearly stated here

http://movieposters.ha.com/heritage-auctions-press-releases-and-news/rare-dracula-three-sheet-movie-poster-may-scare-up-big-results-at-heritage-auctions.s?releaseId=2490&ic=ih-moviePosters-DraculaPoster-PR-titleLink-auction7094-030414

Thank you.

Interesting that it doesn't state as much in the actual auction.  Guess "Berwick" is losing its prestige

Or Grey is worried whomever the big player was who bought the 1st copy for $100,000 will be pissed knowing a 2nd was hidden in reserve  ;D

the Academy may have been the buyer the first time and I don't think they ever complain about anything, other than not being able to find what they want most

That isn't a vintage movie poster.  That is less than 20% of a vintage movie poster.

Here is the Heritage description (I was wrong about there being 2 I guess):

This is the only copy of this highly desirable one sheet known to exist in the world. This stone litho beauty, featuring both Cortez and Daniels, showed pinholes, as well as some tears and chipping in the image area, credits, and left border. There was a paper chip into the bottom left corner within the white field only. In addition, approximately one and three quarter inches of missing white paper in the right border and one inch in the top border have been replaced.

So the explanation I have is that the perspective in the photo is wrong - what we're seeing is the David Manners poster (Kismet?) ON TOP of the Falcon with most of the Falcon intact underneath...

Yes, I just posted that picture to show that the Berwick posters were not found in pristine condition.

A partial Kismet one sheet poster is on top of that Maltese Falcon:

http://www.emovieposter.com/gallery/inc/archive_image.php?id=11470867

The black/yellow stylized "S" in the middle left is the beginning of the word "Skinner" (for Otis Skinner).

I don't think the Kismet one sheet was recovered and was taken off the underlying Maltese Falcon.  Can't find a record of it ever having been sold for that matter.

Yes, CSM has it correct - despite Mel's very misleading post, that is NOT a partial Maltese Falcon on top of a Kismet poster, it is the remains of Kismet on top of a nice looking Maltese Falcon.

Not "misleading" at all.  See my prior post.  A picture is worth a thousand words, which is why sellers rarely post the "pre-restoration" pics since the original condition was so bad.

Yes, you typed "Ignorance is bliss" and then showed a picture of a tattered poster. How could that ever be misleading?
Grey's photos were nice that they showed some nearly intact posters from the stacks were able to be recovered.

Cool, Carrie Fisher (her daughter) mentioned this auction on Twitter.  Carrie Fisher signed some Star Wars items, including official posters, on pages 34-35 of the catalog.

Maybe Fisher signed them during one of their mother-daughter coffee get togethers.
