Hi Hi... Newbie incoming
« on: April 03, 2021, 07:24:38 AM »
Hey there All,

Happened across this forum when researching info on the recent Sotheby's sale...

Being a Graphic Designer I collect based on design mostly but I love some specific directors too.

Great to be here and hopefully add value and gain knowledge from the community.

Cheers

Funny, I was just listening to Bowie as I read your post...  "Put on your red shoes and dance the blues," MrDancer.

Welcome.

Our collecting criteria are all different.  To me above all I must have seen the movie.  It could be the most striking design, if I can't associate it to a flick, it means nothing and I pass.

As a graphic designer, I'd be very interested to know your go-to poster designers, and/or directors (Kubrick, for instance, was hands-on and not a single poster didn't meet his approval).

Mr Dancer! Welcome, welcome, WELCOME!!!  It's always nice to have new folks here. As T said, we all collect things for different reasons. There's no right or wrong reason. My collection is all over the place--but mostly horror-related. Unlike Thierry, I don't feel compelled to only buy posters for movies I've seen. There are many movies i haven't seen yet...and if I come across a stunning poster for one, I'll snap it up. At the same time, I'll also buy a crappy poster for a movie I love. I'll also buy things that don't interest me (STAR WARS stuff, for example) if I think it could be an investment down the road. There are no rules. Have fun in the hobby. CHEERS!
