I believe you're correct, and this is officially the first movie poster that was actually sold for over one million dollars (as opposed to simply advertised as worth that much).  Amazing piece of film history and a great Art Deco design.

That wasn't the last time this poster sold, but yes, the time before that a small grouping that included the Metropolis sold for over $1 million USD.
