January 2021
« on: January 04, 2021, 03:01:47 PM »
Was so happy to win this last night. I have wanted a rolled Blade Runner for a while. Always figured I would have to get the NSS or Studio style but was amazed to be able to get this international style. I have never seen a rolled international style before. Did not know they even existed!

Yep, RW, such a great movie and beautiful poster image on Blade Runner.  I've been a Philip K. Dick fan since I was a teenager and have many of his first editions/SF digests. The movie is its own sweet goodness grabbing just a piece of Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep and making it "live"! Congrats, Okie

I finally took the plunge and recently bought some Thai posters, attracted by their busy compositions and lurid imagery.  I've alway found them to be fun, but never actually collected any until now.

Ah oh, you've done it now, Antoine!  You'll be off to Thailand soon searching night markets and mysterious tropical abandoned theatres.  Liver eating ghost beware!  Okie

Thai posters often are some of the best for the titles imo. Nice pickups!

Lol Okie, I could think of a worst way to spend my free time than exploring abandoned movie theaters in Thailand!

Thanks Undead, I'm pretty pleased with those first pickups.

First one of this Year. Scarce poster being from 1944, the wars years were not kind to UK posters, so anything pre-50's is like gold dust..

Hi Paul,  Cool to see the images created on your quad for Tarzan's Desert Mystery. I think you found a full nugget. Okie

It's fascinating to see those older quads, Paul. Love that one.

Also really like that selection of Thai posters from Antoine1973 - I think the colours and style really suit the horror genre perfectly. I love how they don't hold back on the gore.

Thank you Tob, I really dig the graphic details on those Thai posters too.

I just picked up this cool Italian 2F for Roger Corman's great Poe adaptation of The Pit and the Pendulum.  I like the composition by Enzo Nistri.

^Hungarian poster for A Taste Of Honey (1961) - if IMDb is correct then this is from 1963
it was 35 euros but because of the dickheads who voted for brexit i had to pay 42 euros :@
it's gonna be a pain getting around this for more expensive posters
i would like to wish a big kick to the balls for all the aforementioned voters every week for the next couple of years please
