December 2020
« on: December 02, 2020, 09:10:42 PM »
My first Thai poster. Was hoping to get a Tongdee, especially the Das Boot (I REALLY wanted that one but it escaped my grasp). I have wanted a "lightning" example of The Matrix, and this one is more scarce than the US example so I am happy.

Yes, that Das Boot is pretty cool.  I had it on my list (along w a bunch of other posters) but I completely forgot to bid.  I was wine tasting at a winery, so it might have to do w that :)  Your post actually reminded me that there was a sale on Sunday.

I received my Horror of Dracula Italian 4F from Heritage today, and it didn't disappoint!  I wasn't sure about getting this copy since it is linenbacked and the condition was listed as Fine, but given its rarity I decided to go for it, and I'm glad I did because it looks absolutely spectacular in person.  The large size complements this composition quite well, and the colors really pop.

That Horror of Dracula looks great! Wonderful bright red on that lettering.

Will you be framing it? :)

Thanks Deke!  Yeah, I'd like to frame it, although I'm running out of wall space for such a large poster (over 77 inches tall).  I think it would look great framed.

Pas de quoi être trop jaloux, Thierry!  Rappelle-toi qu'elle est entoilée... ;)

Je sais, mais comme tu me l'as rappelé l'autre jour, il y a des affiches qu'on ne peux trouver qu'entoilées.

I've been buying printers proofs recently because I've been looking for different artwork. This doesn't really fit my collection as such but I quite like the effect. Seems to suit the movie quite well too.

Ooooh, very jealous of that one. 1 of a set of 3 I believe? But I don't think they've ever surfaced (other than perhaps the Christian Bale version)?

I think Schan might have a set, or maybe Mark? Could be wrong though. Even though I suffer quite badly with Migraines I still think it's cool!

Funnily enough, I was looking for some info yesterday on a poster and stumbled on the "what modern posters will be valuable?" thread where it was discussed, I think you're right that Schan has one (but not a set?).

Always loved this image. To get it in a very tough to find 40x60 I couldn't pass it up at the price.

:o  I have had the Bale one for 12-14 years or so (non printer's proof) and have never seen another until that one.  I had it on my wall until a few months ago, I changed things up.

No collectors that I know of had ever seen the other two except as images online.  I hunted for YEARS and stopped YEARS ago under the assumption that they didn't exist.  I guess I should have kept it up!  Sweet find man, and you know how to reach me if you ever decide to part with them!  notworthy.gif

Hi Ratzkywatzky, That is pretty cool that your She Walks by Night is a 40" x 60".  And, "Woolner Bros." makes it even more fun! Okie

Kind of cheating here as I didn't get all of these in December.... but I did take photos of them in December!

Picked up this one a few weeks ago.  It has watermarks on it indicating that the paper is a cotton mix. 109cm x 62cm.

Was able to get this one without too much of a fight...

Was superstoked to get this one at a great price.

Had never seen this one come up before.  Unfortunately, the folds are quite pronounced.  Will need a long flattening...

And finally, this B2 for The Ladykillers... really like the use of pink in the title :)
