August 2020
« on: August 01, 2020, 09:28:32 AM »
Singapore have just came out from a lock-down after a few months and cinemas are just beginning to open, the long lock-down just reminded me how I love the movies and escaping from the real world.I believe all friends in this forum also love movies like me, and in turn love posters.I sincerely hope and pray that everyone is in the best of their health and the pandemic will be over soon.Just manage to get one poster after so many months,Mulan international version ,it is not much, but this signifies my well wishes for everyone in the forum before we closed this month's thread.Stay safe everyone.

Nice words.

Yeah, it's been EXTREMELY dry for a lot of collectors, myself included.  I recently decided to turn to private collectors for new acquisitions since there is nothing of substance where I usually get most of my posters.

Nice Mulan, btw.

Have not bought much lately either but did pick up this one. Have always loved the over the top layout of it. Not perfect but is a hens tooth on a good day so beggars cannot be choosers. Glad to have it coming, another unicorn off the list.

The other one is a taketan for Vivre sa Vie (1962).

Hey Dead!!! Yeah, I was REALLY excited about getting that one.  I know it doesn't mean anything on this forum, but it does to me.

Thank you Tob. It came yesterday and since we had now power had time to throw it in a frame. It's not a B1 frame, a little larger, but will do for now. It was just screaming FRAME ME!!!!

Heavily worn, but pretty damn rare!  Don't believe I've ever seen a half sheet for this title before...

Took me a long time to find this one...

I own that poster too (as well as the one for the theatrical release with a completely different artwork), one of the few 1980s titles I have; for some reason I always loved the imagery they used, very similar to the Blob.  The movie is a fun satire, typical of Larry Cohen's idiosyncratic output.

^Polish Zazie dans le métro

OMG!! I can't believe you got this "Zazie dans". I have been after it for years. I am insanely jealous. Where on earth did you get and and can I ask how much you got it for. Just out of personal interest as I have been after it for along time and keep missing it when it comes up for sale. Well only ever seen it twice for sale. I am collector of Polish posters and this is one of my all time wants...

Always great to see some Cohen! Not my favourite of his films, but a production that actually had a budget at least. ;D

I haven't seen it in person yet, but I'm guessing I'll have it paperbacked.  The main art is surprisingly well in tact -- aside from the ~8" tear through Cagney's face of course!  But the borders look to be a mess.  I'm not one to restore posters unnecessarily, but I was assuming this one would likely benefit from it.  I'll wait to see what the back looks like though.

poster art - it was on reel poster gallerys website. i'd never bought from them before - too expensive! (but understandable as they have premises in the capital). it cost £450 so not cheap but i was happy to pay that. the funny thing was that i asked for a high res photo as the one they had was tiny and they got back to me saying it was away at their linen-backers  Doh.gif Doh.gif luckily it hadn't been touched and i declined their offer of paying £600 for it backed ;D
god knows why they were getting it backed in the first place, its condition is very very good
