How to Date German posters (postwar)
« on: February 16, 2019, 05:25:30 AM »
Here is my 50-page expertise on dating GERMAN MOVIE POSTERS. I worked that one out 6 years ago to support eMovie auctions. There are some smaller distribution companies missing, as I had planned to update the thing over time (then the hectic times set in 😆 ). (PDF is also available)

Hi Peckinpah, Thank you for this great gift of knowledge on determining the date of German posters!  Wow, I'll be using your fantastic gift from now on.  As they say down here by New Orleans, "You da best"!

Great stuff there, Mike. Always great when info and knowledge like this is shared with everyone - and from collectors/sellers etc who are experts in a genre or country.  thumbsup.gif

I am really glad you all like it :). I hate to see a "1974 poster" almost every day offered as "1969 first release". The information I included regarding the distributor logos are good for most countries I guess, at least for the biggest part...

(How can I change this topic to the way the other "Date" topics are listeed here? Bold and on top...)

Mike, I'll pin your topic for you. That will keep it at the top of the board with the others.

Somehow the page has a problem: I tried to win over new members,
they cannot register.
"Registration is disabled"  (??)

Registration has been this way since shortly after the forum was started back in 2009. Holiday disabled automatic registration due to the huge number of bots that were auto-registering.

There are also 2 threads explaining this, as well:

Chico: "How to date German posters?"
Groucho: "Make eyes with a German poster girl."

Sorry, Peckinpah, the title of this thread kept screaming to me a Groucho moment.  Thanks again for the incredible gift of your expertise!  Okie

Funny, I never noticed that in all those years...
I wanted to delete my post regarding this shortly after,
but that's another thing that's not allowed :).

By the way, the version above features a few mistakes
the avid reader probably will easily spot (I can't find my latest PDF)
