My Propaganda Posters
« on: November 17, 2018, 06:22:51 PM »
Hey everyone!

New to the forums, and I finally had a chance to get some images together from my collection. Pleased to meet you all!

I mostly collect propaganda posters from around the world. My primary interest is Soviet posters, but I also have posters from America, Canada, China, Vietnam, Germany, and North Korea.

Below are a few of them!

Small format Canadian WW2 Poster:

Post-war Vietnamese Poster. Roughly translated as: Uncle Ho says we will win!

Another Vietnamese poster. Nixon the killer.

A 1944 Soviet poster by Viktor Koretsky: Europe will be freed!

Just a small portion of my collection as an introduction!

Great looking propaganda posters, too. How long have you been collecting these kinds of posters?

Probably about 5-6 years now.

I've officially run out of wall space...  :(

How many in your collection, in total (framed and unframed), at this point?

Welcome, Desperada!

Did you join this forum a couple years back and drop off, and are now re-joining?

I think we may have corresponded about a "Mexico por la libtertad" propaganda poster if so.  If you are the same person, I finally did track down a copy of my own!

I agree, Okie.

That Nixon poster is a propaganda poster to a T.

Amazing artwork, too.

Wow!  Love those Vietnamese posters.  I primarily collect Soviet-era and Eastern European film posters so I've managed to pick up a few propaganda posters over the years as well.  These Vietnamese posters remind me of Cuban posters -- rich, colorful oil based ink screen prints.

Please share more Desperada!

Probably about 25 framed, with ~18 on the walls. Maybe about 70 more stored.

Back with some more posters for your viewing pleasure!

Vietnam - Three Generations of American Presidents
This poster is a critique of American foreign policy based on the three monkeys: Hear no evil. Speak no evil. See no evil.

Soviet Union - Belorussian Language - Beware Western Radio Broadcasts! (rough translation)
Warning people of the danger of listening to foreign radio broadcasts, associating them with poisonous fascist propaganda.

Canada - To Victory
Simple enough patriotic WW2 poster playing on the imagery of a Canadian Beaver fighting alongside the British Lion.

Canada - Big Guns of the Home Front
Canadian WW2 poster emphasizing the importance of factory work at home and the importance of doing your part even if you weren't fighting overseas.

Superb posters Desperado. I have to maintain strict discipline in collecting movie posters as I could easily be swayed into collecting other genres such as propaganda. In the early 1990's I purchased very cheaply around 40 original Cuban propaganda posters from a government office stockpile - sadly there were no Vietnam War posters remaining and most of the subject matter related to conflicts/revolutions from the eighties.
