Removing drafting tape from a poster's back
« on: October 08, 2018, 01:19:38 AM »
I haven't seen this specific issue addressed, what I could find.  So far I've found cello tape attached to the fronts or backs, but not the white masking/drafter's tape.
Background: as a kid we didn't have the poster frames, so we made loops of said tape, attached them at about 5 key places on the poster backs (4 corners and center) and stuck them on the walls.
When we changed the posters, we simply cut half the tape loop off, leaving a maybe half-to-one inch strip behind on the poster for future hanging.
So what would be the best removal method for this situation?  Lighter fluid, bestine, hair dryer, what?
Some of the tape has been on the posters for 20+ years, but haven't shown through the poster fronts.  The tape looks like it was just applied yesterday.
The posters aren't valuable, just store-bought, but do have some sentimental value.

Try using Bestine to remove the glue residue and tape.  Apply around the edges and work slowly.
