A Film Genre That Has Faded
« on: August 09, 2018, 03:00:14 PM »
According to this article, genre films like 1993's THE FUGITIVE, with Harrison Ford, have faded in popularity.

The opening, sub-title from the article (which is an interesting read, too):

"The Harrison Ford–starring thriller represents the best of a genre that has faded: the character-driven action movie for adults."

I think what has changed is all the stars in THE FUGITIVE are over 35. Sadly today no studio wants to take a chance on a major film without a fresh young face to bring in the kids. Also there's no CGI, no overblown special effects to showcase either. Which is a shame since THE FUGITIVE is such a good film.
