Well I freakin’ really like this series! James Cameron employs his fame to lure in the top people associated with sci-fi: directors like Lucas, Ridley Scott; authors; stars; set designers; etc. It’s slick, fast-paced, visual, balanced etc.

AMC channel Mondays at 10pm EDT http://www.amc.com/shows/james-camerons-story-of-science-fiction; also AMC app

Tidbits from yesterday:
- Lucas said 2001 is best sci-fi ever; SW was “regurgitated” from it and many other movies to create a “lived in” relatable future; light-saber scenes shoplifted from Westerns; made movie for 12 yos, who are smarter and more imaginative than adults
- minority actors were inspired by diversity of Star Trek;
- Spielberg’s parents strictly limited TV so he had to imagine his own entertainment
- many discuss how sci-fi movies are hyper-realistic, so audience is inspired to support space exploration

Forbidden Planet was first modern sci-fi movie, inspired Star Trek:
