I forgot to add that you need some fresh A1 or HP sauce as well ;)

That'll work until it doesn't...

Yes, even though there are boatloads of cheap Spiderman reprints already out there and even though true originals only sell for $75 or so, perhaps some not-very-bright bootlegger will spend mucho time, energy, and money to create perfect double-sided repros with a lighter/whiter reverse - which no bootlegger has ever done before - and eke out a tiny profit before being caught.

Of course, the Loch Ness monster could rise from the Potomac tomorrow....

Somehow Jeannie managed to watch Star Wars Revenge of the Sith 19 (NINETEEN) times but never managed to find a couple of hours to put together the much-promised Star Wars prequels authentication (e.g. this version is watermarked, this version is not....)

It was more a comment on your general approach and how things do change over time - there was a time when no one would have thought that someone would have created a bootleg The Thing, but they did.  I believe (and hopefully he can drop in and comment) that part of the issues that Dan had was that reprinters/bootleggers were using his info to make better fakes.

That was her, Ted! A smart, attractive and busy doctor, who also took the time to set up MPA, with fellow members contributing.   sm1

Aside from a link to the site itself, this thread has been kaput since 12/09, when T started it.
On the other hand(s), Dan and Mel are both here and happening.

Does anyone else think it should be pinned?

Is Jeannie back in the hobby?  Somebody spruced up MPA a couple of weeks ago but no new authentications:

Jeannie is an alcoholic.  She went from collecting posters to collecting wine.  She has become quite the wine connaisseur.

Respect.

Poor thing.  ;D  verydrunk.gif

Even so, her site (http://movieposterauthenticating.com/wordpress/ ) and this thread both deserve a  bump.gif.

I recently acquired a copy of The Dark Knight, "Why So Serious" poster from a fellow APF member. Even though I knew it was 100% legit, it was great to be able to reference Jeannie's authentication of this poster, to see what the differences were from the double sided reproductions that are out there.   thumbsup.gif

MPA belongs to everyone and was created to be so.

(I just rule it with an iron fist. ;D )

There's a new section that will be created on MPA that will provide alerts to reproductions which we have not been able to do a full authentication on.  There are known discussions of repros, but when side-by-side comparisons cannot be done and instead the information relies on a third-party source, that poster under scrutiny will be posted in this new section.

This new section is being created because I realize that people want to see what has been discovered and what conclusions have been reached even when a complete authentication has not been done yet or, for whatever reason, some missing piece of information keeps an authentication from being publishable.  There are a few that have been sitting in MPA under wraps because certain issues could not be resolved to make the information an authentication that could be published on MPA.   This section is still being worked out.

Thanks,
Jeannie

Just a little bump for anyone who might not know about Jeannie's site. Lots of great authentication info that she gathered and put together, too.  thumbsup.gif
