Kurt Degen
« on: February 16, 2018, 04:38:29 AM »
Unfortunately it is quite impossible to find some useful information when researching about Kurt Degen. He apparently lived from 1904-1993. There are posters which are signed by "Kurt Degen", others are labeled with "Degen / Stuttgart" or "Atelier Degen". I suppose in the earlier years he painted himself and later on had a company where other artists worked for him. The company produced some rather ugly artworks as well as some really really nice ones. I have about 110 posters, all from 1961 - 1970. But I saw one or two dating back to 1955/56... Degen did a huge amount of the German United Artists posters in the 1960's, among them the James Bond posters...

He doesn't seem to touch a nerve here, however, here are another few DEGEN I quite like:

Oh, an absolut favorite of mine. An American piece of film art,
not for everybody's taste though, very dark. So good it bombed of course. LOVE IT.

Erik, "SECONDS" is an absolute must see! It's bizarre, weird, Rock Hudson is great, and the final shot of the film will make you wince!
