Black Swan - La Boca
« on: January 26, 2018, 12:07:25 PM »
Hey all, newbie here but always had a lot of love for all kinds of movie posters but wanted to run a question, or two, past those who'll be much more in the know than me!

I've had a set, all four (!), of the wonderful La Boca art-deco style posters of Black Swan for a while now. I acquired them during the film's promotional push direct from 20th Century Fox and was wondering about value, and how to make sure the ones I have are the 'real', rare set that I've seen around every now and then.

They're thick giclee, one-sided and approx 30" x 40", unfolded and beautiful - Any tips on knowing their rarity or origin?

(Apologies if I'm in the wrong section!)

Confused, they only printed three designs of the 40x30 quad and four designs of the 27x40 single-sided on stiff paper, 4 double-sided designs on double-sided thin paper. What do you have?

You can find links to auction histories here:

http://moviepostercollectors.guide/Valuation.html

Still valuable but have dropped in the last couple of years.

And  welcome1 to the forum, too, Dan.

Hopefully you'll find the answer you're looking for.

And please post pics of your 4 posters, too. That will help, as well.  :D

Several other threads have discussed these posters in various contexts, too. Here are the links, in case you wanted to look at them:

Hey, it's the 4 designs 27x40 (Sorry was being approx. before!) single-sided on stiff paper - Will get some pics up shortly as they're in a flat-file. As I say, they came direct from 20th Century Fox in the UK but wanted to kinda 'verify' what I had for my own piece of mind?

I hadn't found that whole auction history links, so thanks!

If I remember correctly, I think the single sided, thicker stock versions are slightly scarier than the double sided, normal paper version? Could be wrong though. Nice posters! More auction history here

Some shots!

Thought the macro really show off the 'flecked' effect in the writing and design - hard to get high up enough to get four perfectly in... and those shoes aren't mine.  :P

Any ideas if anyone would be interested out there? Would I try the auction places, if I needed to?!

You can write to Heritage and ask them about potential valuation, too. They still do free appraisals, if you were interested in auctioning the posters with them, but there's no obligation to use them. More info here:

Or, use the two links Sundance above furnished.  They do the trick.  Ensure you look at the dates of the sales as the trend may show what Today's prices are likely to be.

Great, thank you both of you! It may be something I *have* to do... rather than want to!
