Yeah, one of our really close friends owns a radio station here in LA that was co-organizing the event.  He was on stage a few minutes earlier, then on the side of the stage when the shooting began and ended up spending the night at a airport hangar or something.

Crazy shit.  Glad you're okay.

may not be dead yet.

I saw him many times, including a knock-doors-off-the-building concert at the Academy of Music on 14th st in Manhattan almost 40 years ago........ in the front row center seats!

Sounds awesome, Rich.  He was one of my top 10, for sure.

The sky is blue, I'm hitting the beach with the kiddos.  It is days like this that remind you how important living life is... you know, that last sentence from Ferris Bueller.

sadly, the police & hospitals here practice regularly for attacks like this that produce huge numbers of casualties

within 90 minutes, they had more doctors available at all hospitals than patients. The Strip & highway as well as feeder streets were all cut off.
all casinos locked their doors and asked people shelter in place. The police broadcast all people not staying at nearby hotels to evacuate & head away from the Strip. We have a pretty good police force here. So good as a matter of fact, that I don't for a minute believe they profiled Bennett.

honestly, I've figured Vegas has been overdue for stuff like this, where you have huge groups of people gathered all over town, all the time and a team of committed terrorists could do more damage here in 20 minutes than most places

my biggest danger is almost being in the shadow of Trump Tower. if that building were bombed & crumbled like the Twin Towers, my building would sustain considerable damage and I am nearest the tower

Great to hear Rich you are ok.

I drafted so many responses, but hit delete on them all. I'll just say, keep your daily mass murders over there, in the greatest country in the world, and don't bring it here (to OZ). You can also have your daily 38 gun related murders including the unimaginable of 3 children. It must be worth it for whatever trade off, else it wouldn't be.

Rich, Trump Tower sounds like the next terrorist target. Don't wait for it to topple on to you or explode over you raining down fire. Sounds like you have a valuable property, sell it and move closer to your far away post box. win win.

No country is immune from random acts of violence Steve.

Absolutely. I didn't refer to a random act of violence.

USA experiences mass gun related murder (4+ victims) on average more than daily. That's what I was commenting on. That's not random violence, that is ingrained. By contrast Australia's last mass gun murder was over 20 years ago.

I see. I am aware of the Port Arthur massacre. I perceived your comment as flippant.  Something to consider, there about 323 million people living in the U.S. compared to 24 million in OZ.

For sure, a ratio of 15 to 1.

With the above logic equivalence, OZ would be having mass firearm related murders fortnightly (rather than daily in USA), however fact is it is 20+ years apart.

And daily non mass murder, gun related murders are way out of proportion in USA for that ratio

It sounds like people in USA will be buying up even more guns in the wake of this even though it seems in this incident having a weapon wouldnt have helped, if anything, drawing a weapon might have just resulted in getting shot by the police. I don't know, it all sounds mad there.
