3D TV does not entice me in the least (even with an Ari punch in the face as a nice bonus! ;) )

I go back to my childhood when 3d is involved, I keep a pair of red/blue glasses next to my bed, I know this is different. But I get the buzz from 3d, like I did finding a 3d comic as a youngster.

I have an ap on this ipad to take 3d pics to view with those glasses, I love it.
Still practising, there is a knack, but fun nonetheless.

Ari, if you have never seen one of these reactive 3-D Telly's working you are in for a treat. I was dead against them, and refused to have one, until Yvonne and I were shopping for a Telly for one of the kids, we tried one and was amazed. So went home with it that day.

I had seen Creature from the Black Lagoon at the Cinema, and it was great, and also had a 20min 8mm film in 3-D, but the Blu-disc from Universal's box set is outstanding. The first thing was at the pictures, it's almost in colour, but the Blu-ray is pure Black and White. I jest not that when they find the Skeletal Creature hand sticking out of the rock, that hand is right in the room with you.

We now buy a few 3-D Blu disc's, they are great for a change, but I would hope it's not a permanent thing, as trying to eat your curry with those glasses on, in the dark is not recommended...   :P

Yeah.

Re tv, I went into a store and had a go, ASTRO BOY, looked great to me.

Best 3d I ever saw was about 15 years ago in an art gallery. This artist had built his own set up. The goggles each had a shutter, it plugged into some device, and the movie played, each frame was for each eye, and the shutter closed one eye at a time, in synch, brain outs together.
The animation was an embryo that floated out of the screen to inches from your eyes, and started turning and evolving until it was a man, and floated back into the screen.
Even modern movies at IMAX etc wasn't as close or "there" as this. It just sat there in front f you, everyone was trying to grab it. He said it cost him $30,000 to build the device.

Ps yeah vegan curry is ok, I don't buy many curries as they like to use ghee or cream etc often, but I make them.

A few years back, I was walking by on the street outside Galeries Lafayette store in Paris past a window display showing a tv close to the window. The tv was playing showing a 3d effect spewing out expanding stars cascading what looked like out the window onto the footpath. No glasses needed. I was suitably impressed.

No Ghee in my Curry, Yvonne makes them. We occasionally go to an Indian restaurant, but Home made is always bestest... :)

processor swap - Onkyo SC885 going out (been a good one) , Marantz AV7701 going in its place.

Projector swap - Epson 8350 going out, Panny AE8000 coming in.

Makin the 3D upgrade downstairs. :)

Marantz supports 4K, but I dont see that coming to my house anytime soon with the current prices on those!

Panny AE8000 coming in.

Let me know how you like it!  I'm finally getting the "replace lamp" message on my 7 year old sony (720p) so I think I'm due for an upgrade.  The Panny is at the top of my list as I'm considering a scope screen option.

I'd love a 4k set-up, but there's no films available in it over here, so it will be a few years up the road for me.

I've heard good things about the AE8000, do keep us informed..

Ok, out of the box better contrast, blacks for sure are better, more picture "depth", still need new processor to try a 3d run. Switched mounts, and wow what a difference for ease of adjustment.

Still need to do some adjustments for sure, but very, very nice right out of the box. That should be expected though when doubling the price of the old one. I wish there was a DLP setup around me or a JVC D-ILA to check out, just to see how they compare to LCD projection.

Here is my setup... the gear must be about 8 or 10 years old, but it sounds mighty nice

Soon I hope to make an entertainment unit to put the gear in nicely as I cant find one I like. I have been designing one in SolidWorks software. I'm not much good at woodwork at all, so I am about to make a coffee table first to learn a little.

Whatmough P32 Signature Mains 4 Ohms bi-wired
Whatmough P8 Center 4 Ohms bi-wired
Whatmough PFX Surround speakers (in a box sadly waiting for me to get organised)

Sony Bravia KDL-46X3100 46"
ARCAM DiVA AVR300 receiver/amplifier
ARCAM FMJ CD36 CD player
Denon DVD-2930CI DVD player
Sony BDPS300 (first ever Bluray player?! - firmware never updated, doesn't work with new disks)

I store Bluray movies on my pc and connect it to the tv and amp to play them
Still thinking of getting Bluray player Oppo BDP-105 but my funds have all dried up :(

Poster: The Young Racers 1953 half sheet. Here are better photos of it

Oh well, while here may as well link to the cds in the pic too (only listened to a few seconds of each as not had time to enjoy them yet, they are meant to bring out the most from the hifi):

Is there no space at the back of the room Steve, I put all my Kit at the back out of the way.
Yes you need longer cables, but its so much tidier especially with the speakers at the front.
