How do you consign to...
« on: May 11, 2017, 01:47:57 PM »
So, I am taking a break from poster posting while I spend the summer trying to get organized. I've decided to send some of my duplicates or posters I'm not really interested in off to auction. While eMovie has a pretty self explanatory process (Hooray! Thank you! I should be sending some stuff soon, hopefully.), I can't figure out exactly what to do on Heritage.  I also realize i'll be having to dump...er, bundle some of my lesser crap on eBay to purge eventually. I dread that.  Anyway, how do i sell on Heritage?  Thanks!

Let me introduce myself: http://www.allposterforum.com/index.php/topic,9291.0.html View my collection thread (if you DARE!!!):  http://www.allposterforum.com/index.php/topic,9480.0.html  See it on my blog (withOUT Photobucket watermarks) here:  https://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=5730339618306790065#allposts/src=sidebar CHEERS!

#1 contact Grey Smith

#2 decide whether you think your stuff is good for the weekly or Signature auctions

#3 they have a bottom limit of $5k for a consignment as a generality, but they will take rare items in a lower dollar setting

#4 I'm sending Grey a bunch of pictures to choose from later today!

Huh? What exactly does this mean? I have to send $5K worth of stuff?

generally, yes. However if you have something rare, Unihorror, etc, they would possibly waive that

personally, I try to send them what could go for 10-20k. Factually, they've done very well with what I have sent them as an overall equation, but I have never given them a reserve. I sent it & let them make all the decisions and I've not been disappointed

You could also sell some stuff to Rich @ movieposterbid.com.  ;)

Why not explore all your options and avenues?

Rich, does that $5K limit go for posters that are sold in the Sunday night weekly auctions, too?

I suspect most of Maggs's duplicates are lower to middle range posters rather than mid to high-end.  This to me means 2 things:

1- you will need to send a shitload of these to hit the magic 5K mark
2- since most will be deemed unworthy of a sunday night or signature auction, Heritage would sell most via their ebay site.  If this is the case, considering the cost of shipping to Dallas, you may want to reconsider if its worthwhile.

Sorry Magg dont get me wrong i don't mean to devalue your poster-doubles!

alternatively, you could auction off 10 + poster tubes once in a while on ebay yourself (not individually)

no idea, but probably

no. they sell your stuff in the specific venue that is mutually agreed, but Signature auctions need 'Signature material'
they aren't going to take a Barbarella 1sh for Sig auction unless it is part of a larger consignment for instance, but they would take a 40x60 as a singular consignment

Ok, I'll bite.  How is that not exactly what I am saying?
P.s. Magg if you have double barbarella 1sh I will take one!

if you send them material expressly for the Signature auction, it will only be sold in the Signature auction. Although, if it does not sell, then I believe they have the option of offering it in their Sunday auctions, because of course, they have processed it already and want to sell it, to make their money.

if you give them a large consignment with no particular instructions, that material they may sell in every venue

It is pretty easy. We merely ask for a list of what one is interested in offering. The $5K number is not a firm number but something all of our venues are asked to work toward.
With a list I can shoot back some suggested values provided I think there are some items of interest and of enough value. If not, I will certainly say so.

Zowie! Who knew there'd be so many responses in the few hours I've been away from the computer? Thank you ALL for your help.

RICH: Wow! Good luck with YOUR consignments. i know you've got some really good stuff to offer. Keep us posted as to how it goes.

JEFF:  Does Rich do consignments? I never asked, but he has SO MUCH stock---some of it he hasn't even gone through yet. I can't imagine he'd have the time to do consignments. Plus, he is sending stuff out on consignment. Rich is one BUSY guy.

CRAZY VICK:  No offense taken. I know my collection is entirely LACKING in the A+ poster arena. The silly things I like / have are NOT the kind of things the A-listers bother with. Still, I know I have some better things than I've seen listed on HA.

GREY: Thank you for replying, sir. (And I so wish YOU had a personal collection thread on here. We'd ALL love to see it.) You won't find any $100,000+ posters in my collection. But, down the road a bit (I am only just now digging into the posters collection--40 years worth is a LOT to go through/catalog/ etc.), maybe around summer's end, i may be sending you an email or two seeing if anything strikes your fancy for auction.  But THANK YOU for the info.

Rich also buys collections (or partial collections) outright.

So you have your $$ right away. No delays or future listing dates to wait for, in order to receive your money (if you are in a hurry). As I mentioned, it's just another avenue or option to maybe explore, if you and he can come to terms and agreement on a price for certain number of posters that you just want gone.

Call Rich M-P-B if you need some cash now~~~~~~~~

Shawn, of course I take consignments, but because of my vast stock, you have to have a nice collection of stuff with good value for me to want to and generally, it needs to be the type of material I do not already have

What about payment and tax/deductions at HA ?

a) How do they pay you back ?
b) How long after sale of items ?
c) Are there taxes and deductions on sold price ?

Thanks
