And I wonder how the powers that be at MGM decided that the Tin man's face should be flesh colored on the HS. Maybe being all silver would not have shown enough of Haley's expression or detail?  dontknow.gif

That's an interesting observation, Jeff. I've never really noticed that!
I can only image an art director thought it made him appear more human.

Could it have been that the artist just didn't know?

On the b/w still that he was painting over, would there have been any difference between silver and flesh (the rest of the cast) and so maybe he took it upon himself to humanize him.

Going back to my old Bond related stomping ground, for the Dr No lobby set, Connery's attire on the beach was blue trousers and blue top.  The cards had the colours all over the place.  A red and green combo being one such.

Agreed that it was up to the whim if you will, as to the colors employed in lobby sets and often on posters. The reference was usually B&W stills in the day.
See James Dean's red jacket from Rebel on close up lobby depicted as dark blue yet correctly shown on three other cards!
