THE CREATURE WALKS AMONG us---black line?
« on: February 13, 2017, 07:52:15 PM »
Back in December, I was thrilled to win a THE CREATURE WALKS AMONG US poster from eMovie (YES, i was using an alternate account name...). Truth be told, i didn't examine the photo as closely as I should have and was a bit disappoint to see a black line going from Rex Reason's arm to Leigh Snowden's boob when it arrived. It wasn't a big deal--but it was there.

http://auctions.emovieposter.com/Bidding.taf?_function=detail&Auction_uid1=4461145&txw=1487014752#howtobid

I was just trudging through the swamp that is eBay and I stumbled on another copy of the poster...and it ALSO had a black line. And, at the bottom of the page, eBay suggested another copy of the poster---also with the black line and on linen.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/CREATURE-WALKS-AMONG-US-56-Reynold-Brown-art-LINEN-BACKED/152432466276?_trksid=p2060778.c100276.m3476&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D40954%26meid%3D3b207df866234793b11a310f14586187%26pid%3D100276%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D2%26sd%3D142277073376

Hmm. When i got mine, i assumed it was an accidental mark, a slash of a pen or something...and then I spy these two with the same markings.

I googled the poster and found an image withOUT the line. Now I am confused.

http://www.impawards.com/1956/creature_walks_among_us_xlg.html

Are the lined ones authentic or copies? The more expensive one on eBay LOOKS old/authentic. And if the other copy was put on linen, wouldn't it have been cleaned up and the line eliminated if it was not supposed to be there? I trust eMovie...but just to be SURE sure, I'd like a little more validation that mine (which looks "real" to me) is, in fact, the real McCoy and NOT a fake.  Anyone know anything about this particular issue?

THANK YOU!

Shawn, from reading the description of your copy on EMP, your OS is from Dominique Besson's collection.

You should have nothing to worry about as Dominique doesnt deal in fakes, bootlegs or repro copies.

Thanks  (but I have no idea who Dominique Besson is/was). I just needed a bit of reassurance.  Phew!

Hi Damo! Nice to see you on the boards again. I DID share that I'd gotten the poster in mid-December (http://www.allposterforum.com/index.php/topic,9480.1050.html about 1/2 way down). I didn't share one of my alternate names on eMovie (as I was hoping for a bit of anonymity when going after certain posters...or when I just forget to change back to my more public account. OOPS!).  Saving for a house for you and the GF INSTEAD of buying posters is a WISE move. You need WALL SPACE before you can hang anything. Ha! Seriously---that is a good idea. Good luck to you.

Very nice, I love the WESTWORLD poster and the INCEPTION poster is also cool. Take a picture with something ON the wall--ha! (I'm a fine one to talk. my walls are stark raving naked as well).

CHEERS!

Funny i don't have anything on the walls - i prefer to hold posters in the cardboard backing and switch them around every week or so, different ones to look at- i have about 100 atm with backing boards. There are a few other places in the apartment where they are so i have 4 to 5 on display at one time, but in saying that I will get my Blob 1958 US O/S framed soon that will be the first one to go up.

I love the tv show Westworld and the poster is just amazing, one of my fav posters and tv shows. The Inception is pretty cool way better than the standard O/S -  I collect IMAX one sheets (27 by 40 not the mini ones) and have a lot of those , still after the Intertellar one though - hard to find at current.

The other one in the lounge area at current is iT follows - love the art work real retro, due to be replaced shortly

Love the IT FOLLOWS.  And you have THE BLOB? That is super high on my want list. I'm officially jealous.  Good for you.

Thanks very much i am really happy with it i bought it off Bruce last year for $450 in "Good to very good condition" which i thought was a good price. I will post a pic when its up :) I really like 50s Sci fi  - hence why i like the Creature posters and have decided to buy one to two per year and build a collection of those over time - if i had a bottomless pit of money i would do it quicker haha. Keen to get the Incredible Shrinking man or Earth vs the flying saucers next but i think it will just be whatever i find at for sale at EMP which has a reasonable price. I am due for another expensive poster so maybe a 50s sic fiction will turn up at the March EMP auction.
