LOTR: Two Towers
« on: December 11, 2016, 05:55:20 PM »
I've always wondered why this poster is odd. The back side shows the mirror image of the front but it is dull and lacking in color.
Is this because it was meant to have a light behind it?

Yup.  That was the whole reason for double sided posters, so they'd look good in light boxes.

I was just curious why this one poster seemed lighter on the backside? Usually the colors are deeper and richer.

Back when I first started noticing DS posters (in the '90s) they were mostly always lighter/washed-out on the back.  I think the trend toward full color reverse image came much later, although I'm sure them's what follow modern posters could provide a more detailed timeline.  I suspect with the rise of digital printing it's cheaper to just reverse the front and call it good.

actually every double sided poster I have ever had was lighter on reverse, but I dont deal in them really.

mostly, double sided posters are at least a little lighter on back, though not always.
