I finished up the Halloween season last night with a watching of the 1925 cut of The Phantom of the Opera (from The Milestone Collection). One of my all time favorites, hands down.

Color.
Are you insinuating that there are two versions available or that I might've liked it more if I had turned the color off?
I have done that before with The Lady In White (1988) which I prefer in BW.

When I was going back to make up my tally I just saw your response Brude.  The film was originally meant to be B&W, but the studios would never allow it.  Here it is in Frank's own words... you should definitely check it out.

Interesting.
Unfortunately, the visual nature wasn't my issue with The Mist. It was the writing and acting.
But, if you really want to see a film that should've been shot in B&W, watch Frank LaLoggia's Lady in White (1988), a creepy Halloween ghost story starring young Lukas Haas, and turn the color off. Excellent.

I enjoyed THE MIST,
it felt like a Tele Movie, which is OK with me, I like them.
As a kid I LOVED the story, I read it many times.
And I also had an audio play, on cassette, actors and FX and everything, like listening to a movie (or like a radio play) rather than spoken word.
I was hooked on radio Plays as a kid, and so for a S King fan this was heaven.
I dont read him anymore, stopped when i was 12 and found Poe, Lovecraft etc.

AND I dont like a lot of the films made from his books/stories, but I liked the Mist. Interested to try it in B/W as I had it on my netflix queue already to rewatch.

And Ill check out Lady in White, never seen it, thanks.
