Cool video about movie posters, and this guy's collection and linen-backing/restoration work.

It's always fascinating to see what other people do with their posters and how different we all are.

Thanks for sharing,

Cool video about movie posters, and this guy's collection and linen-backing/restoration work.

Dan is top notch. I had 2 posters backed by him this year and he did an outstanding job.  I've been meaning to post some before and after pics.

I've been reading about hits and misses lately - if anyone is in doubt, send it to Dan, period.

Very good, informative clips. I had a look at Dan's website which is also straightforward and upfront about his pricing - he appears from his testimonials to have a lot of satisfied customers from around the world.

He offers shrink-wrapping for posters, which I haven't come across before. Anyone on here had this done for their posters?

Indeed.  You and this guy are like polar opposites, with him linen backing and framing all that stuff, and your anti views on those methods.  Lawl.

I was browsing the YouTube again today, and surprised to see how many videos there are of folks talking about their collections.

Good to hear this guy is legit.

H77, there are several great linen backing videos, blogs, etc.  One of the best IMO is from Poster Mountain.  A search here will lead you to some threads with links of their work.

Martinc, I also wonder what exactly the "shrink wrapping" entails.  I would assume it's simply an acid-free board, with a polyethylene or maybe fancy mylar sleeve, that is sealed around the poster and board.

Good to read that you had a good experience with Dan, too, Vick. He sounds like he passionate about both the poster hobby and the restoration work he does.

Now lets see those 'before' and 'after pics' you have been promising.  Pronto!!   ;D binoc.gif

here's a before pick for one of them.  The picture doesnt show it but it was quasi unmanageable so fragile that it was, folds, age, and all.  There were extra tears in there as well after this pic was taken, and before it went to Dan

Yessir Jeffirs - a 1942 design from US artist Ben Shahn.  I put a blurb in this random topic a while back:
