September 2016
« on: September 01, 2016, 10:25:55 AM »
Pretty excited to start off September with a bang (at least for me).

This is the original matte, six process one sheet (before the wide release of the glossies) for the indie sci-fi film, Under the Skin, inscribed to me by Neil Kellerhouse. Neil is the artist responsible for the design of this poster and countless other one sheets, film art campaigns, and Criterion covers (Gone Girl, Girl w/ Dragon Tattoo, Social Network, The Thin Red Line, Haywire, Seventh Seal, etc.). He is by far one my favorite modern film artists, and Under the Skin is one of my favorite sci-fi films of the last ten years.

Can't wait to get this one on the wall.

Very nice, congrats Chris! I also really like Kellerhouse, this poster and the film. His message/sig is nicely placed too.

Chris - do you have any more info on the '6 process' thing? Is that related to the printing or something?

I'm not a printer by any means, but as far as I understand it, instead of using only 4 colors in the CMYK range, it adds to additional colors for added range and photorealism.

From the web......    There are two types of 6 color processing. Either '6C: Hexachrome' (The digital Hexachrome printing process uses CMYK inks plus Orange and Green inks. With Hexachrome you have a wider color gamut and it may produce better, more vibrant images than 4C alone.) or '6C: Dark/Light' (This six color digital color printing process uses CMYK inks plus a lighter shade of cyan (LC) and magenta (LM) to create more photo-realistic images.)

Hope that helps!

Interesting information, thanks. I'll have to be nerdy and pull my matte and gloss versions to compare now to see if there are any differences.

Really like the poster there Chris and the sig is great further adds to the piece as well.

Would love this poster but every time I see it the seller wants crazy money for it.

part of the 6 color process involves printing a smaller dot pattern, which is how the image gets a little more photographic

Looks good Damo. Big fan of most all the posters that came from Black Swan.

Great quads there, Mike.
Especially like Le grande Illusion, 300 Spartans, Chinatown and...and...  heck, I dig 'em all.

Continuing my quest for lobbies from classic musicals.  I don't post a lot of these, but I've been looking for a good copy of this one for awhile now.  Finally.

Good to see Ted and others have returned... still a little slow around here lately, eh?

Nice pickups, M154 and J.

That other forum seems to be having some good posts recently.. such as this quad acquisition from PW in their September thread.  thumbup

I can't scroll down this page without stopping each time to look at this again.
I'm not a fan of text-only posters, but this has special charm...
The minimal illustration.... strong use of color... the variety of fonts and titles... very cool, Mike.

Not entirely sure what happened to some of the pictures but I'm digging the cat :)
Lot of some of these re-releases never even reach eBay. Never seen Chinatown or Eternity b4 & only got them cos my guy was clearing out the office & found them.
Re. Made in Britain - have to agree with Ted - damn nice poster!
Re. iron sky - took an age to find for less than silly money & then an eBay seller has 4 to sell! Never seen the film but the posters great.
Re. Spartans - I've been after this since I first saw it posted on MPF many years ago & was going to bite the bullet & spend on mint rolled copy when this came up. Bit tape, couple nicks & small area of moisture damage but main image, colours etc r still pretty vivid & a bargain to boot
Here r the missing photos
