Hello APF'ers,

I just wanted to mention an issue that a couple members have noticed, in just the last few days (this past week, around Wed). Youtube clips that are embedded into posts are now showing up as nothing more than a black window/square. It's happened to me, too.

With the help of Steve (50s) and doing some other digging around, it seems like this has happened to quite a few other forums or sites where folks have also embedded clips. Hopefully a fix will happen, that restores this issue for those that it has affected. But I wanted to let those who have noticed it, that it isnt a forum software issue, nor is it the embedding code we have all used with ease the last several years (thanks again to Steve  ;) ).

I normally use Firefox but both this browser and Safari gave me the same result, when logged onto APF.

This is what I now see on any post that has an embedded clip. Anyone else having this issue?

I use Chrome.  I do not have the problem on Blogger or Facebook, only on APF, but APF is the only place where I use the flash embed frame in Steve's code.  On Blogger I use the video embed code YouTube has and on Facebook I just use the video's URL, and they both still work perfectly well as they have done for a long time.

This announcement was put out by Mozilla for future releases of the Firefox browser, discussing the changes with regard to Flash player.

https://blog.mozilla.org/futurereleases/2016/07/20/reducing-adobe-flash-usage-in-firefox/

But what would explain the sudden non-playing of embedded clips, for any and all that have not updated their browser recently? My version of FF on my laptop is the same now as it was in March. So for the clips to suddenly appear as these black boxes, has me scratching my head, since I didnt upgrade my browser and there have been no changes to the forum. The "enable flash" option is still checked and active.

And the same issue exists when I try Safari. And that hasnt been upgraded or changed recently, either.

From Jan of 2015. This might be the issue, once youtube fully implemented this change in its videos from Flash to HTML5:

Oooo. I think it's working again. Here's the bogus trailer for the faux movie "THANKSGIVING". Hopefully it works.

Something changed somewhere... good to know.

All clips seem to be back and visible for those that couldn't see them before.
