King Kong UK film poster (1933)
« on: August 04, 2016, 03:28:17 PM »
So I have this, more than likely one of a kind. I'm curious as to what you guys think of it and a rough valuation as I really don't have a clue.
Any ideas?

Thanks

Marc

it's cool but without art, I can't see it selling for more than a few hundred if that much

Not a specialist, but I agree with Rich. Lack of art is a downer, but the condition is superb and the text is cool. Will probably fit very well in a Kong completist's collection.

I disagree with Rich.  A Kong completist will pay a lot for anything Kong related.  I'd have no problem forking out $1,000s for Bardot posters I don't own.  Such is the heart of a completist.

there is only a single Kong completest that I am aware of, Peter Jackson.
I would find it difficult to believe that others exist due to the sheer amount of money needed to achieve such a method on the title and the fact that there would not be sufficient material extant for more than one such collector

Marc, Is this the same poster being offered? If so, how did you come up with a price (approx $755.00 USD), since you were uncertain of its value?

Yes it is Jeff.

To be honest I have no idea of the value. So i took Rich's few hundred guesstimate and T's response and just split it.

I'll leave it at that price for a while and if no takers may just keep it myself. (Although I may be cheeky and message the man himself as suggested on here)  ;D

Marc, I see that the dimensions of this piece are approx 13x30 inches. Were UK posters of this size also known as "inserts?" Or were they called by a different name?

Even tho text only, I think it's a bold and commanding piece.  sm1
