I should also add.. my ex-wife was always more interested in buying a new couch, kitchenware, curtains or shoes than she ever was in seeing me spend money of collectible shyte

whilst most guys I know could care less if they were sitting on a couch or a milk crate while watching a football game

to each his own

Perhaps this is why she gave u the ass and divorced u..

If women liked/collected movie posters then they would all be in here and we wouldn't...

But women do like and collect movie posters.

My theory is that they don't always join the forums.  That said, when I've been to poster fairs, etc., most - but not all - stalls seem to be run by the male of the species.

It's a puzzle.

if the poster hobby takes the same course as the comic book hobby, more women will be here soon.

from 1968 to 1990 or so, women were a considerable minority at conventions.
However during the 1990's a population change happened at these shows, in part because while 40 years ago, it was unwise to tell a date you sold comics & movie posters, now they think it is seriously cool - as long as you aren't wearing the same t-shirt you have been for the recent calendar year and you shower occasionally.

Girls today are every bit as freaky as boys have been forever, so when you go to a comic book convention today, while girls/women are still a minority, you see them everywhere. It's heaven, especially as so many are wearing those Red Sonja & Wonder Woman costumes

Never thought it had to do with being freaky but with women's overall situation in society. Most are these days financially independent to buy and collect all sort of things, husbands and posters.
And, I think that the film industry has always attracted the female population. It is easy for women to get into this hobby and spend good money.

Trust me. I will happily pay a million for my  all time favourite Bogart. You can keep the shoes and handbags.

Not so much a puzzle; just most women have the right idea and are better at it than us men.
In my experience, most women stay well away from these poster forums etc.
One of the biggest collectors I know is a woman and she won't go near online forums for various reasons.

So there you go, Rosa, girl power  thumbup
Best wishes,
Adam

Thank you, the pic is of my lovely gentle giant dog, she's a laydee too :-)

Oh yes, bestest behaviour can only be a good thing on a forum. I'm being good too. Was tempted to comment on some of the previous posts (the 'Loch Ness' one, for example, which I didn't understand) but decided against it. Each to his own.

It would be interesting to know from dealers (Rich? Bruce?) if their customer base is all male or largely male coz I do think that this is a very good question...

Even a (rough) percentage breakdown would be an interesting number to see.

Hello out there..........  8)

I wonder what happened to lynbabs, GemGem, Juli and ladeda?

All on a relaxing hiatus, perhaps?

They got rid of all the trouble makers and now can go back into their holes...  Classic woman move - to try to fix things they think can be fixed and move on.  Once there is nothing to be fixed - boring!

Tsk. I'm still around, just been very busy with real life recently. :)

I certainly don't live in a 'hole' and will resist  posting my views on Charlie's comment.

I'd suggest becoming gay Charlie.
Or perhaps celibate , most gay men I know have nothing but respect for women.
But if you choose the former, head over to NSF in your thread where there's some nice images for your pleasure.
