The size is just short of 12"x just short of 24", or 300mmx605mm.

It has, noche de fiesta,  n4003 serie iv, modelo registrado. prohibida la repoduccian, impresso en espainia.

if that's any good to you Ted?

As you say, it's a nice piece of Art...

So after 7 years of marriage and a 5 year drought of pickin' (because my wife didn't really dig it and sort of made me stop) she says lets go yard-salin' and see if we can find paintings/art prints...  I was thinking, since I am getting this desire to start framing my posters, that I can find some interesting frames to modify...

So we hit it from 7:15 to 8:45.. (I had a tennis lesson at 9AM or we could have spent all morning). So I am at some random suburban home and picked up this super cool photo of an Indian in head dress watering his horse...  It was signed at the bottom as being printed from original negatives something or other - but the image was so awesome I didn't really care. I asked for the price... 'oh a dollar?' She says. "Yeah sure... I'll take it and what about that one in the aluminum frame?'  "two dollars?"  So I bring them home.  We also got a retro chair with green pleather that I plan to re-cover in leather and a nice model ship of a 1800s sail boat...  We had fun.  So today I start messing with the Indian picture and it has a stamp of the back about 'The Curtis Project"...

The Picture:

Come to find out after a bit of research this was a seventies reprint from an Edward Curtis original negative by a Jean Anthony DuLac...  He was taking old negatives and reprinting them - and he was the first one to do it. Originals Edward Curtis prints run in the thousands of dollars...

Jean-Anthony DuLac created a small body of goldtones in the 1970s, which are not clearly or easily delineated from the vintage ones.

So I took my $1 photo and put it in a frame and am getting a lot of satisfaction every time I pass it by...

So the other excitement is that when I looked up the value of the print, it ranged from $100 to $300... And my wife (calculating $300 -$1 = $299) is all excited and wants to go yard-salin' again...   woohoo

Charlie,

THAT is a great looking image. Congrats on the pickup. You had an Antiques Roadshow moment...  thumbup

Was Jean-Anthony DuLac's name part of what was printed on the back of the photo? I checked out the website, too. Very informative.

The framing looks great, too. It shows it off well.

There was a 'Curtis Project' stamp with the DuLac info on the back of the photo, so all is good there... Pretty amazing to find it - seller had no idea.  My wife said I should have taken a photo of how it looked in the old frame; like it had been sitting in someone's garage for 20 years - may have been.

Last year I made the disastrous decision to sell my Mondo Universal Monsters collection.  Even though I made some money, they all skyrocketed after I sold them and they were a huge loss artistically, of course:

To remedy my error, I've spent the proceeds from the original sale to buy 8 new Mondos and 4 new S2 Art Group (27x41) recreation lithographs:

Scored these on eBay.  The seller didn't put Mondo anywhere in the description...  I tried to get these in a trade with CJ (where has he been btw, his site is down) last year...  I don't think they come up too often anymore.  Excited to finally get them!  bed1

I have a set of these I bought from Mondo's when they were released. Still sitting in my soon to frame pile. I also have the Perkins Pulp Fiction character prints as well for my QT collection.
